One time on a Sunday Jesus sent two apostles to the next town over to borrow a colt, promising to return it. Before the sun set the next Sunday, Jesus had conquered death, hell and the grave by resurrecting from the dead.
Mark 11:7 And they brought the colt to Jesus and cast their garments on him; and he sat upon him.
That donkey left unbroken and untried. It returned ready for the saddle. The Lord takes what we give Him and gives it back far better.
Give Him your Abram, a lost pagan, and He will give you back an Abraham, a mighty man of faith.
Give Him your Jacob, a schemer and a trickster, and He will give you back an Israel, a Prince of God.
Give Him your Saul of Tarsus, a mean, cruel man, and He will give you back a Paul, a mighty Apostle of God.
Give Him your Simon, a weak, vacillating man, and He will give you back a Peter, a rock for Jesus.
Give Him your broken sin-scarred life, and He will give you back a new start, a new life, and a home in Heaven.
When the righteous men marched the woman taken in adultery to Jesus, they hoped He would have her stoned to death. The hypocrits were testing Him against the Law. The Bible doesn't say what He wrote on the ground, but He asked the one without sin to cast the first stone. One by one they walked away. The lady called him Lord.
Jesus saw someone worthy of His love, someone worth salvaging. No matter what sin you've committed, Jesus sees you worth salvaging. He saw you that way from the cross. He saw me. I feel so unworthy.
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth The Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God has raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Jesus specializes in taking wasted, ruined lives and saving them by His grace and restoring them to usefulness.
Maybe you are looking for a compassionate Savior, One who will make everything right. Come to Jesus just as your are.
The disciple's ship rocked and reeled in the night storm. Frightened to death, they awake the sleeping Savior. "Don't you care that we perish?"
The disciples had seen Jesus conquer every imaginable situation in life, but they had their eyes on the problem and not on the Problem solver.
When your boat is rocking and reeling, Jesus will not let you sink. Wouldn't it be great if we could just trust Him?
Matthew 8:26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.
In Jesus we are bought into a close relationship with a new Heavenly Father, a relationship so close that we are permitted to address Him as "Abba" or "Daddy".
Romans 8:14,15 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
Family members favor each other and have the same mannerisms. The same is true with God's children. His Spirit shines through them and they look like Jesus and the Father.
We have a new freedom in the Father's Family. We are no longer led about by Satan and the whims of the flesh. Now we are a child of the King.
Matthew 6:20,21 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal; For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Laying up treasures is using all we have and are for the glory of God. it means measuring life by riches of the kingdom and not by false riches of this world. If your heart is filled with the peace, joy, and hope of God, you're laying up treasures. Some treasures are special blessings in your life. I'll never forget when God audibly spoke to me before surgery, "Don't worry, everything is going to be all right." His sweet spirit was awesome. Years later Jesus wrapped His reassuring arms around me after breast cancer surgery. It was so real. I have many more in the Treasure Box.
The greatest glory of Heaven will not be golden streets, jasper walls, angelic hosts, crystal rivers, endless days or even those who have gone on before.
The thought of all these wonders pales when placed alongside a look upon the face of Jesus. Then to bow at His nail riven feet and thank Him for salvation, for His grace and mercy -- now that will be glory.
I wish everyone were going to heaven. A good life won't get you there. You must believe on Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.
