Sitting At The Feet Of Jesus

Remember the Bible story of Martha complaining to Jesus about her sister not helping her serve their guest?

Luke 10:39,41-42  And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. . . . .  [41] And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:  . . . . [42] But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

When we come into the presence of Jesus —  in prayer, Bible reading, worship, etc. —  the burdens of life tend to grow amazingly light.

In His presence we find food for our souls and strength for our journey. 

The more time we spends at His feet, the easier it is to make it a priority in life. The larger He gets in our eyes, the smaller other things seem to become.

Are you spending time at His feet calling out to Him about your needs? Never fear that He doesn't care or want you to come to him. He invites you to come and sit at His feet.

The Cross Of Jesus

The cross of Jesus was about far more than death, suffering and blood.  The cross of Jesus was a place of testimony. It was here that God made His greatest declaration of love for lost humanity, 

Romans 5:8-9 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.  . .. [9] Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

When Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, He helped one man and his family.  

When He healed the lepers; delivered the demoniacs; opened the blind eyes and healed diseased, twisted bodies; He was helping one person and one family at a time. 

When He fed the 5,000 thousand, He helped 5,000 men plus women and children.  

But, when He died on the cross, Jesus made a difference for every member of Adam’s family who would believe in Him by faith, accept Him as their personal Savior.

It wasn’t just one man; but it was “whosoever will”, Rom. 10:13; Rev. 22:17. He could have saved Himself, but He stayed on the cross to save sinners.

The best thing that ever happened to me was when I believed in Jesus.

The Will Of God

Genuine, biblical faith is a miracle. Faith in God is something we don’t possess naturally. Eph. 2:8 tells us that faith is “the gift of God.” 

This outworking of faith in God’s people has allowed them see demonstrations of God’s power that boggle the mind. It has allowed them to receive answers to prayers for things that appeared impossible.

Faith in God and in the promises found in His Word, allows us to believe Him in the impossible situations of life.

Mark 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

It sounds like a blank check, like you can ask for anything and receive it. 

There is not a single verse in the Bible that contradicts another verse. 

The Bible is very clear that answers to prayer come when we pray according to the will of God. 

1 John 5:14-15 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 

[15] And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

Great Is Thy Faithfulness

Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

He is called God - the One Who is over all. It encompasses all of His power, His glory, His influence and His wonder. This word reminds us that He is the One in charge of all things.

Often our faith is overwhelmed by our doubts. In spite of that, God is faithful. 

We can have confidence that our God is faithful and that He will stand by us even when our faith is weak, John 10:28-29; Heb. 7:25; Rom. 8:28-30!

Regardless of the realm of life, the Lord can be trusted. He is faithful.
