Surely Goodness And Mercy

Between the time we get saved and the day we go home to heaven, there is a life to live. That’s where Psalm 23 comes into play.

The Good Shepherd promises us help for today and hope for tomorrow.

He plans and knows the way we take [Psa. 37:23; Job 23:10].

Knowing that the good Shepherd is going to see me through this life and usher me into that glorious, eternal, sinless life in Heaven  stirs my heart.

Psalm 23:6  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Surly Goodness And Mercy

A pilgrim was I, and a wandering, —   In the cold night of sin I did roam,    —   When Jesus the kind Shepherd found me,    —    And now I am on my way home.

Chorus:

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me    —    All the days, all the days of my life;    —    Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me    —    All the days, all the days of my life.    —    And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever,    —    And I shall feast at the table spread for me;    —    Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me    —    All the days, all the days of my life.

He restoreth my soul when I’m weary,    —    He giveth me strength day by day;    —    He leads me beside the still waters,    —    He guards me each step of the way.

When I walk through the dark lonesome valley,    —    My savior will walk with me there;    —    And safely His great hand will lead me    —    To the mansions He’s gone to prepare.

Leave It There

When we are burdened it touches the heart of God and He is moved on our behalf.

1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

He tells us to give Him everything

I’m so thankful that we have the Lord's promise of His Presence  [Heb. 13:5; Matt. 28:20]. —  His Provision [Phil. 4:19], and His Power, [Matt. 28:18].

Lay your burden at the feet of Jesus.

Leave It There

If the world from you withhold of its silver and its gold,   —    And you have to get along with meager fare,   —    Just remember, in His Word, how He feeds the little bird   —    Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.

Chorus:

Leave it there,    —    Leave it there,   —    Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there;   —    If you trust and never doubt, He will surely bring you out   —    Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.

If your body suffers pain and your health you can’t regain,   —    And your soul is almost sinking in despair,   —    Jesus knows the pain you feel, He can save and He can heal   —    Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.

When your enemies assail and your heart begins to fail,   —    Don’t forget that God in Heaven answers prayer;   —    He will make a way for you and will lead you safely through   —  Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.

When your youthful days are gone and old age is stealing on,   —    And your body bends beneath the weight of care;   —    He will never leave you then, He’ll go with you to the end   —    Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.

The Blood Will Never Lose It’s Power

 1 Peter 1:18-19 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

[19] But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

The blood of Jesus has power to cleanse 1 John 1:7. to conquer Rev. 12:11, and to comfort, Col. 1:20.

Andrae Crouch wrote his first song at the age of fourteen titled “The Blood Will Never Lose It’s Power”,

At a friend’s party, being shy, instead of joining everyone in the back yard, he went in the house and sat down at an upright piano.

He prayed, “Lord, ‘God, I really love you. I would love to write songs for you. If you would give me a song, I will live for you forever.”

Suddenly, in his mind he could see Jesus carrying his cross up to Calvary, and he said, “Oh, the blood!” He began to sing, “The blood that Jesus shed for me . . . . “

The people in the backyard, mostly the small church choir where his father pastored,  heard him and came inside. As they joined in his song, they began to cry.

The blood that Jesus she'd for me, — Way back on Calvary; — The blood that gives me strength  — From day to day,  — It will never lose it's power.

Chorus:

It reaches to the highest mountain,    —    It flows to the lowest valley;    —    The blood that gives me strength    —    From day to day,    —    It will never lose it's power.

It soothes my doubts and calms my fears,    —    And it dries all my tears;    —    The blood that gives me strength    —    From day to day,    —    It will never lose it's power.

The Unclouded Day

Heaven is a glorious land where the redeemed of the ages spend eternity.

It’s the place where we all long to go.

Revelation 21:23  And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

The same God Who stood in absolute darkness and said, “Let there be light” will fill our home with His brilliance and glory.

The darkness that haunts this world will be banished over there, and the “prince of darkness” can no longer do his wicked works.

Some call it Heaven.  I call it Home.

The Unclouded Day

Oh, they tell me of a home far beyond the skies,   —    Oh, they tell me of a home far away;   —    Oh, they tell me of a home where no storm clouds rise,   —    Oh, they tell me of an unclouded day.

Chorus:

Oh, the land of cloudless day,   —    Oh, the land of an unclouded sky,   —    Oh, they tell me of a home where no storm clouds rise,   —    Oh, they tell me of an unclouded day.

Oh, they tell me of a home where my friends have gone,  —   Oh, they tell me of that land far away, —  Where the tree of life in eternal bloom —  Sheds its fragrance through the unclouded day.

Oh, they tell me of a King in His beauty there,   —    And they tell me that mine eyes shall behold   —    Where He sits on the throne that is whiter than snow,   —    In the city that is made of gold.

Oh, they tell me that He smiles on His children there, —  And His smile drives their sorrows all away;   —  And they tell me that no tears ever come again   —  In that lovely land of unclouded day.

Josiah K. Alwood. 1885
