God's Word: Is Powerful

Hebrews 4:12 ] For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

God’s Word Is powerful. Everything we see around us was spoken into existence by the Word of God---the visible, the invisible, the large, the small. Genesis 1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

All through the Book of Genesis God kept speaking and great things kept appearing. His Word had power then, and His Word has power today. Every promise He ever gave us will be fulfilled.

From His Word we can discern His will for the course of our lives, how we are to live day by day. We should praise Him for His Word because it reveals the nature of God to us and shows us the way of salvation and righteousness. Praise His Holy Name!

A Heart And Humble Submission

       Genesis 22:2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

Isaac was the light of Abraham’s life. On the way up the mountain he sacrificed his opinions, his desires, his will, and his future to the glory of God.

So, Abraham bound Isaac and placed him on the altar. Raising a  knife, he fully intended to sacrifice his son to the Lord, believing  God’s promise to bless his generations. Then God intervened and provided a ram in the place of Isaac. Abraham believed and Isaac lived.

God will honor those who honor Him through worship. When we are willing to sacrifice on the altar all that we have and  are, He  will respond by blessing us and using us for His glory.

Praying, reading the Bible, tithing, witnessing, faithfulness to the house of God---things we ought to be doing anyway---are all acts of worship when they are done out of a heart of love and humble submission to God.

I Can Through Christ

The apostle  Paul wasn’t a pessimist. In his letter to the Christians at Philippi he doesn’t say “I can’t,” he says, “ I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me,” Philippians 4:13.

That’s the language of power. That’s victory over every temptation; grace for every trouble, and strength for every task.

Jesus gives power to face life’s adversities---power to cope and power to enjoy contentment regardless of the circumstances, Phil. 4:6-7.  He gives power to face anything that comes our way.

It comforts my soul to know the mighty power of God is at my disposal as I abide in Him. I have never walked alone. He was there all the time, cheering me on, making me strong in my weakness. Praise Him.

Just Keep On Praying

2 Thessalonians 3:1 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:

The Apostle Paul was constantly asking for the prayers of others. 1 Thessalonians 5:25 Brethren, pray for us.  If he needed the prayers of God’s people, how much more do we need them?

The saints are commanded to pray for one another. We need to pray for the leaders of the church---the preachers---the Deacons---the Sunday School teachers---the families visiting our church---those children headed off to school---lost people who need the Lord.

Some of God’s people are walking through deep valleys, carrying loads that the rest of us can’t  imagine. They need someone to go to God on their behalf, someone who will touch Heaven for them.

The God of all grace never tires of our asking, and He never grows weary in His giving. So, don’t  stop praying.
