Sometimes while driving to Walmart I’ll look up at the clouds and imagine them rolling back as I hear a shout and a trumpet. Then ZIP; I’m out of here. I’m ready for the first coming of Christ – the rapture – the meeting in the air – the gathering of the saints. The second coming of judgment will be later.

I Thessalonians 4:16,17 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Christians are to comfort each other with this. I am so comforted. I hope you are too. We don’t know when, but it could be any time. Can you imagine the dander of the news media spinning this one?

Let me tell you about a wonderful miracle. You see, this lady had a miserable disease.

Physically: She had an issue of blood
Socially: She was considered unclean, not to be touched. Not to socialize.
Financially: She had spent all her money on doctors as her disease worsened.

Mark 5:28,29 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. Faith delivered her. She fell down at the feet of Jesus and worshipped Him. He called her daughter. Now she is family.

We live amongst people who are plagued with a disease tainted with sin and its problems. Just like this lady, they need healing. Remedies of good works and false religions do not solve their sin problem.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The phone rang and an excited voice asked if I heard the good news. Mandy got saved. I nearly shouted. I have prayed for her salvation a long time. She wasn’t raised in church, but usually attended church when they visited Dustin’s folks in Kountze, Texas. A sweet relative and mother of two young ones, we’ve shared a few Christmas’ and Thanksgivings.

The last time I prayed for her I said, “Lord I know you still save souls. Please save Mandy.” Never stop praying for lost people. Praise God! I feel like singing the song our children’s choir sings.

A blow dryer is of no use until it is plugged into the power. As believers, we often struggle through life when all the time we are standing on a powerful source. There is no sense in that. God can unleash power in our life, families, and marriage. If you are not a born again Christian, you can’t plug into the power.

1. We must plug into the power of prayer. Prayer changes things. That’s why our prayer list is crowded.

2. We must plug into the power of love. Acts 4:32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul… How can two walk together unless they agree? Early church members were plugged into the love of God. Do you love God? Do you know how much he loves you? Do you love each other?

3. We must plug into the power of witness. We need to tell people about the power of prayer and love. We need to tell our salvation story to loved ones and friends.
