Thanksgiving Praise

In 1621, after a terrible year in which half their number died of starvation or disease, the Pilgrims set aside 3 days in December to praise the Lord for a bountiful corn harvest.
In 1789 George Washington proclaimed November 26 as a national day of Thanksgiving, thankful that God granted America independence from Britain.

In 1863 Abraham Lincoln revived this old tradition, and finally, in 1941 the United States Congress decreed the fourth Thursday in November to be a national day of Thanksgiving to the Lord.

We should praise the Lord because of who He is to us and for what He has done for us. Praise Him because we love Him, and He will bless your praise life.

Psalm 100:4-5 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

If it had not been for the Lord in our lives, where would we be? We have much to be thankful for.

Words Of The Living God

In the midst of doubts and confusion in this world, we can still believe in some things.

The Bible—inspired, infallible, and inerrant Word of the living God—is pure and worthy of our faith and acceptance. Every word will endure forever.

Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Every promise God gave in His Word will come to pass just as He said, Heb. 6:18.

When He promised to save you if you called upon Him, Rom. 10:13, He meant that.

When He promised to be with you, Heb. 13:5, He meant that.

When He promised to take care of you, Phil. 4:19; Matt. 6:25-34, He meant that.

When He promised to come back again, He meant that too. Rev. 22:20.

Psalm 119:89-90 For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven. Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth.

Read the Bible every day if you want to be strong in the Lord.

The Lily Of The Valley

Song of Songs 2:1-2  I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys.  As the lily among thorns, so is my love among the daughters.

There’s pain involved in retrieving the lily from among the thorns. It cost Jesus much to buy us from our sins.

We can sing of the lofty doctrines of the faith, but the most profound truth of them all is contained in that precious truth—“Jesus Loves Me This I Know”.

Jesus sees everything we do—the right, the wrong, every defect and flaw—but He loves us still.

Jesus knew us before He saved us, and He saved us still. He knew we would fail Him daily, but He loves us still. What A Savior!

He has written His love for us in His Word and in His cross. We are special in His eyes,

Jeremiah 31:3 The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

Trust And Obey

When you listen to what you think, what you feel, what you see, or what your heart tells you—you are in trouble.

You can’t trust your eyes; they don’t see everything.  You can’t trust your feelings, because we are called to walk by faith not by feelings. You certainly can’t trust your heart; it’s a liar, Jer. 17:9.

You never know what Heaven has planned for your life.

God may be about to use you in a powerful wonderful way but before He can, He may have to keep a few secrets from you. Are you willing to trust Him anyway?

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Oh How Amazing Is Amazing Grace

Grace is defined as the "underserved love and favor of God toward fallen man".

When you consider all that this means, it’s an awesome thought.

Titus 2:11-13 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

[12] Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

[13] Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

Grace means that any sinner can be saved—Redeemed—Forgiven of sins.  Any storm can be weathered. Any situation can be faced.

Grace will teach us how to live in this world and give us hope for the future.

I'm glad God is patient with His little imperfect children. That's just His grace.

Sweet Hour Of Prayer

Matthew 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

When we approach the Lord in prayer, we need to remember to Whom we are speaking.  He is Lord.  He is awesome.

By faith we can rest in the knowledge that our Father is God—that He is in Heaven—that He occupies the throne of glory—that He sees and knows everything there is to know about us—and that He hears and answers our prayers.

Let’s come into His presence and worship, honor and glorify Him. Then we will be in  close communion with Him, and that opens the storehouses of His glory in our lives.

. . . . “Till, from Mount Pisgah’s lofty height, I view my home and take my flight.
This robe of flesh I’ll drop, and rise To seize the everlasting prize,
And shout, while passing through the air, “Farewell, farewell, sweet hour of prayer!”

God’s Way Is Perfect

The days of battle have ended for King David, and he knows he is nearing the end. Perhaps it was during those long days in the palace that he began to reflect back on a life lived for the Lord (2 Samuel 22).

A mighty king ruling a great kingdom, David enjoyed absolute victory. Here’s a couple of his thoughts.

2 Samuel 22:31 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.

2 Samuel 22:47 The Lord liveth; and blessed be my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation.

The same God that strengthened David is the same God who has promised to strengthen us (Isaiah 40:31).

Thank God, we are the partakers of His divine providence as we move through all the valleys, trials and burdens of our lives.
