O How I Love Jesus

1 Peter 1:8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

This is the secret of the Christian life.

When we love Jesus, everything else falls into place.

O How I Love Jesus

________________________

There is a Name I love to hear, —  I love to sing its worth;  —  It sounds like music in my ear,   —   The sweetest Name on earth.

CHORUS:

Oh, how I love Jesus,   —   Oh, how I love Jesus,   —   Oh, how I love Jesus,   —   Because He first loved me!

It tells me of a Savior’s love, — Who died to set me free; — It tells me of His precious blood, — The sinner’s perfect plea.

It tells me what my Father hath  —  In store for every day,  —  And tho’ I tread a darksome path,  —  Yields sunshine all the way.

It tells of One whose loving heart — Can feel my deepest woe; — Who in each sorrow bears a part — That none can bear below.

Frederick Whitfield  1855

What A Friend We Have In Jesus

John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

There has never been a greater, nobler or more costly display of love than that selfless moment when Jesus died for us on the cross.

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

No one else would give his life for those whom he knew would dishonor him and neglect him.

Thank God His love for us runs far deeper than we can comprehend!

What A Friend We Have In Jesus

______________________________

What a friend we have in Jesus,— All our sins and griefs to bear! — What a privilege to carry — Everything to God in prayer! — Oh, what peace we often forfeit, —  Oh, what needless pain we bear, — All because we do not carry — Everything to God in prayer!

Have we trials and temptations? — Is there trouble anywhere? — We should never be discouraged — Take it to the Lord in prayer. — Can we find a friend so faithful, — Who will all our sorrows share? — Jesus knows our every weakness;   —   Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy-laden, — Cumbered with a load of care? — Precious Savior, still our refuge — Take it to the Lord in prayer. — Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? — Take it to the Lord in prayer! — His arms He’ll take and shield thee, — Thou wilt find a solace there.

Joseph M. Scriven   1855

He Keeps Me Singing

Psalm 40:3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.

David had every reason to praise the Lord for saving his life, but it was God who placed that song within his heart.

How many times has God given you just the right song when you needed it most?

I praise the Lord for His music.

He Keeps Me Singing

___________________________

There’s within my heart a melody — Jesus whispers sweet and low, — Fear not, I am with thee, peace, be still, — In all of life’s ebb and flow.

CHORUS:

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,  —  Sweetest Name I know;  —   Fills my every longing,  —  Keeps me singing as I go.

All my life was wrecked by sin and strife,    —    Discord filled my heart with pain,    —    Jesus swept across the broken strings,    —    Stirred the slumb’ring chords again.

Feasting on the riches of His grace,    —    Resting ’neath His shelt’ring wing,  —   Always looking on His smiling face;   —   That is why I shout and sing.

Though sometimes He leads through waters deep,    —    Trials fall across the way,    —    Though sometimes the path seems rough and steep,  —  See His footprints all the way.

Soon He’s coming back to welcome me,  —  Far beyond the starry sky;    —   I shall wing my flight to worlds unknown,   —   I shall reign with Him on high.

Just A Closer Walk With Thss

James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

James 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

We need Jesus every day in our lives.

We need to humbly draw closer to Him, and He will draw close to us.

Just A Closer Walk With Thee

___________________________

I am weak, but Thou art strong; — Jesus, keep me from all wrong; — I’ll be satisfied as long   —    As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.

CHORUS:

Just a closer walk with Thee, —  Grant it, Jesus, is my plea, —  Daily walking close to Thee,  —  Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

Through this world of toil and snares, — If I falter, Lord, who cares? — Who with me my burden shares?   —    None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.

When my feeble life is o’er, — Time for me will be no more; —  Guide me gently, safely o’er — To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore.

Under His Wings

Psalm 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Psalm 91:4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

What tremendous security is ours — under His protective wings and covered with His feathers.

God is good.

Under His Wings

Under His wings I am safely abiding;    —    Though the night deepens and tempests are wild,    —    Still I can trust Him--I know He will keep me,  —    He has redeemed me and I am His child.

CHORUS:

Under His wings, under His wings, — Who from His love can sever? —  Under His wings my soul shall abide,    —    Safely abide forever.

Under His wings, what a refuge in sorrow!  —  How the heart yearningly turns to His rest! — Often when earth has no balm for my healing, — There I find comfort, and there I am blessed.

Under His wings, O what precious enjoyment!  —  There will I hide till life’s trials are o’er; — Sheltered, protected, no evil can harm me, — Resting in Jesus I’m safe evermore.

Hand In Hand With Jesus

Isaiah 41:13 For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

Here is God’s gracious overture to trust Him—what comfort.

I have felt the Lord’s arms hugging me as I cried out to Him after cancer surgery. That was about 25 years ago.

I cannot make it without Jesus holding my hand every day.

Hand in Hand With Jesus

Once from my poor sin-sick soul — Christ did ev'ry burden roll, — Now I walk redeemed and whole, —  Hand in hand with Jesus.

CHORUS:

Hand in hand we walk each day,   —   Hand in hand along the way;   — Walking thus I cannot stray, —  Hand in hand with Jesus.

In my night of dark despair,   — Jesus.  heard and answered prayer, — Now I’m walking free as air, — Hand in hand with Jesus.

From the strait and narrow way, — Praise the Lord, I cannot stray,   —.  For I'm walking ev'ry day, — Hand in hand with Jesus.

When the stars are backward rolled, — And His Home I shall behold, — I will walk those streets of gold, — Hand in hand with Jesus.

Precious Lord, Take My Hand

Isaiah 41:13 For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

God wants to take us into His confidence.

He wants to enable us to walk with Him, have fellowship with Him, and know Him.

My, what mankind is missing.

Precious Lord, Take My Hand

Precious Lord, take my hand,   —   Lead me on, let me stand, — I am tired, I am weak, I am worn; — Through the storm, through the night, —  Lead me on to the light:  —  Take my hand, precious Lord, — Lead me home.

When my way grows drear,   —    Precious Lord, linger near,    —     When my life is almost gone,   —    Hear my cry, hear my call,  —  Hold my hand lest I fall: — Take my hand, precious Lord, — Lead me home.

When the darkness appears   —.    And the night draws near,   —.    And the day is past and gone,  —    At the river, I stand,    —    Guide my feet, hold my hand: — Take my hand, precious Lord,  —  Lead me home.
