More Than Wonderful

The Redeemed people of God should praise the Lord for His grace and power in our lives because He is a good God.

We should praise The Lord for His mercy even when He is behind the disruptions we encounter.

Actually, when He workes to bring us to a place of restoration and blessing, we can still say He is wonderful.

Psalm 107:8 Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

He is “More Than Wonderful”.

“He promised us that He would be a counselor  —   A Mighty God and a Prince of Peace.  —   He promised us that He would be a Father  —   And that He would love us with a love that would not cease.

“Well, I tried Him and I found His promises are true  —   He's everything He said that He would be  —   The finest words I know could not begin to tell  —   Just how much Jesus really means to me.

Chorus

“For He's more wonderful than my mind can conceive,  —   He's more wonderful than my heart can believe.  —   He goes beyond my highest hopes and fondest dreams.  —   He's everything that my soul ever longed for,  —   Everything He's promised and so much more:  —   More than amazing, more than marvelous   —   More than miraculous could ever be.  —   He's more than wonderful, that's what Jesus is to me

“I stand amazed when I think the King of glory  —   Would come to dwell within the heart of man.  —   I marvel just to know He really loves me  —   When I think of who He is, and who I am.”

Peace In The Valley

Most people want peace in their lives, their homes, their town, their state, and their country.

It seems peace is hard to come by and real peace is unless you personally know the Lord Jesus Christ.

John 14:27  Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

According to Bible prophecy, we will have world peace when Jesus rules, and He definitely will. Read about it in Isaiah Chapter Eleven.

There will be peace even among the animals.

Isaiah 11:5-6  And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

[6] The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

When Jesus rules, there will be “Peace In The Valley”.

“I am tired and so weary   —   But I must toil on   —   Till the lord comes to call me away.   —   Where the morning is bright   —   And the Lamb is the light   —   And the night is as fair as the day.

Chorus:

“There’ll be peace in the valley for me, some day   —   There will be peace in the valley for me, I pray.   —   No more sorrow and sadness or trouble will be.    —   There’ll be peace in the valley for me.

“There the flow’rs will be blooming,   —    the grass will be green,   —   And the skies will be clear and serene.   —   The sun ever shines giving one endless beam   —   And no clouds there will ever be seen.

“The bear will be gentle   —   And the wolf will be tame   —

And the lion shall lay down with the lamb.   —   And the beasts from the wild   —   Will be led by a child   —   And I'll be changed from this creature that I am.”

Blessed Assurrance

Job 19:25-26  For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:

[26] And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

When life is rough and we feel defeated, there are some facts that can give us assurance, strength, and hope.

 — We know Jesus, and He knows us, and He still loves us.

— If we are six feet under at the graveyard when Jesus comes in the clouds to catch us up (Rapture), our bodies will rise, changed in the likeness of Christ; 1 Thes. 4:16-18, 1 Cor. 15:51-52.

—  Jesus is going to return as He promised; John 14:1-3; Rev. 22:20.  The King of Kings and Lord of Lords will reign over all the earth. Rev. 19:11-16.

— Jesus is able to do all He has promised to do; Rom. 4:21; Psa. 145:13.

I find blessed assurance and strength in this.

Blessed Assurance

“Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!   —   Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!   —   Heir of salvation, purchase of God,   —   Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

Chorus:

This is my story, this is my song,   —   Praising my Savior all the day long;   —   This is my story, this is my song,   —   Praising my Savior all the day long.

Perfect submission, perfect delight,   —   Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;   —   Angels, descending, bring from above   —   Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

Perfect submission, all is at rest,   —   I in my Savior am happy and blest,   —   Watching and waiting, looking above,   —  Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

Fanny J. Crosby 1873

I Will Sing the Wondrous Story

Christians dare not be strangers to the Bible.  The Word cannot get into you and me until we first get into it.

When it gets in us, it will control us as we allow God to lead us for His glory — not ours.

Then we will have a heart of praise for the victories our faithful Lord brings us through.

Psalm 119:16 I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.

Psalm 89:1 I will sing of the mercies of the Lord for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.

I will sing the wondrous story

“I will sing the wondrous story  —   Of the Christ Who died for me;  —   How He left His home in glory  —   For the cross of Calvary.

Chorus:

“Yes, I’ll sing the wondrous story  —   Of the Christ Who died for me,  —   Sing it with the saints in glory,  —   Gathered by the crystal sea.

“I was lost, but Jesus found me,  —   Found the sheep that went astray,  —   Threw His loving arms around me,  —   Drew me back into His way.

“Days of darkness still come o’er me,  —   Sorrow’s paths I often tread,  —   But The Savior still is with me;  —   By His hand I’m safely led.

“He will keep me till the river  —   Rolls its waters at my feet;  —   Then He’ll bear me safely over,  —   Where the loved ones I shall meet.”

Great Is thy Faithfulness

I am sure that Job would have chosen an alternative to losing his children, his health and his wealth; but he was willing to trust the Lord through times that can;t be understood.  Job 13:15

What about you and me?  Do we really believe that the Lord is absolutely faithful, that He has our best interests at heart?

Just as every new day brings with it its own set of problems, so each day brings a new, unfailing, all-sufficient, supply of God’s marvelous, matchless, wonderful, amazing grace.

God will never fail those who place their trust in Him, Rom. 10:11.

Lamentations 3:22-24  It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

[23] They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

[24] The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.

“Great is Thy faithfulness,   —   O God, my Father,   —   There is no shadow of turning with Thee,   —   Thou changest not,   —   Thy compassion's, they fail not,   —   As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.

Chorus:

“Great is Thy faithfulness!   —   Great is Thy faithfulness!   —   Morning by morning new mercies I see.   —   All I have needed Thy hand hath provided,   —   Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

“Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,   —   Sun, moon and stars in their courses above;   —   Join with all nature in manifold witness   —   To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

“Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,   —   Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide,   —   Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,   —   Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!”

Thomas O. Chisholm

Farther Along

We may be going through some hard times, but the Lord is ever so near when you seek His comfort. .

In Andrae Crouch’s song, “Through it all”, he writes “If I’d never had a problem, how would I know that God could solve them, How would I know what faith in God can do?”

We don’t understand a lot of bad things going on in the world today, but believers have hope for a better place.

Psalm 30:5  . . .  in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

Farther Along we’ll know all about it or we’ll be so overjoyed with the presence of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords that it won’t matter.

Farther Along

“Tempted and tried, we’re oft made to wonder   —  Why it should be thus all the day long;   —  While there are others living about us,   —  Never molested, though in the wrong.

Chorus:

“Farther along we’ll know all about it,   —  Farther along we’ll understand why;   —  Cheer up, my brother, live in the sunshine,   —  We’ll understand it all by and by.

“When death has come and taken our loved ones,   —  It leaves our home so lonely and drear,   —  Then do we wonder why others prosper,   —  Living so wicked year after year.

“Faithful till death, said our loving Master;   —  A few more days to labor and wait;   —  Toils of the road will then seem as nothing   —  As we sweep thru’ the beautiful gate.

“When we see Jesus coming in glory,   —  When He comes from His home in the sky;   —  Then we shall meet Him in that bright mansion,   —  We’ll understand it all by and by.”

W. B. Stevens
