Trust Your Shepherd

If believers ever grasp the truth that "The LORD is their Shepherd", it will forever transform their lives.

Psalm 100:3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us and not we ourselves: we are his people and the sheep of his pasture.

God saved us so that we might serve Him. He has a plan for our lives. He will use us if we will serve Him. We belong to the Chief Shepherd, and He will take care of our needs.

The problem is that many of us haven't learned to trust Him as we should. We pray about a need and promptly try to meet it ourselves.

If all the props that support us were removed, maybe we would totally commit to a life of faith, trusting the Lord with all our needs.

Psalm 23:2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

The Will Of The Father

John 6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son and believeth on him may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Being saved is not some difficult, mystical process. You don't have to "pray through" or memorize the "sinners prayer". You only have to believe in Jesus with all your heart, by faith trusting that His death on the cross and His resurrection are sufficient to save your soul from the penalty of sin (Romans 10:9).

When we trust in Jesus:

  • We are kept by His power--1 Pet. 1:5
  • We are promised "everlasting life"--John 3:16, John 5-24
  • We are promised "eternal life"--John 10:28, 1 John 2:25
  • We are promised that we will "never perish"--John 10:28
  • We are promised that we cannot be "plucked out" of His hand--John 10:28-29

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

God Is Faithful

If Almighty God is our God--our personal Savior--is there any reason for us to fear or fret or even be faint-hearted about anything?

Perils of life give us reason to fret, but when we give them to Jesus, He gives us power, grace, and strength for our need. The Apostle Paul said, "When I am weak, then I am strong."

Isaiah 41:10 Fear thou not: for I am with thee: be not dismayed: for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee: yea, I will help thee: yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me.

Our Hope Is In The Lord

Lately, it seems I'm living out prophecy. This world is in a mess. Child of God, be encouraged. The King is coming.

First, He will return in the clouds to receive His saints and take them to Heaven (caught up--the rapture). It could happen any time.

1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Then He returns in glory with His saints to defeat His enemies and to reign upon the earth.

Our hope is in the Lord. The best is yet to come.

Grace To Soar

When I get "down in the dumps" I never let it affect my daily devotion. My feelings don't change who God is and how much He loves me. If I wait on the Lord, He will lift me up.

Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength: they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint.

This great eagle is held to the ground by the same gravity that binds us to earth. He stretches out those massive wings and with a great flap is airborne, breaking the grip of gravity and soaring above the strife in this world.

The Apostle Paul discovered that there is grace to help you soar. From a Roman prison he flew high in Christ, writing Epistles to churches, touching his generation for God.

There is grace to help you soar.

Peace And Encouragement

Jeremiah 32:26,27  Then came the word of the Lord unto Jeremiah, saying, "Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?"

The answer is no. God is still the God Who possesses "all power in Heaven and in earth" (Matt. 28:18).  He is still the God "who is able to do exceeding, abundantly above all that we ask or think" (Eph. 3:30). He is still the God Who "works all things after the counsel of His Own will (Eph. 1:11).

The Lord uses the crisis in our lives to mold us, grow us, and develop us. The God of the impossible can make it possible.

Let the comfort of God's promises give you peace and encouragement regardless of what you face.

What Is Truth?

If the Bible is the inspired, infallible, inerrant Word of God as it claims, it and it alone is the final authority and standard of living.

Truth is not always the opinion of men, great philosophers or the teachings of great religious leaders.

The Bible teaches about God, the creation of man, sin, salvation, good, evil, the family, etc. If I can't trust God in Genesis 1:1, then I can't trust Him in John 3:16.

Truth is the difference between right and wrong and saved and lost.

If you accept God's truth in your life, you have the right standard of living and a reason to live.

If you reject these truths, the Bible is still true and Jesus is still the only way to God and eternal life is still for those who believe.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.
