Trust and Obey

Psalm 84:11  For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

If you are at a point where you don’t know what to do in your Christian life, just trust the Lord and obey Him.

Study the Word every day and let the Holy Spirit speak to you.

Trust and Obey

____________________

When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,   —   What a glory He sheds on our way   —   While we do His good will, He abides with us still,   —   And with all who will trust and obey

CHORUS:

Trust and obey, for there’s no other way   —   To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,   —   But His smile quickly drives it away;   —   Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,   —   Can abide while we trust and obey.

Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,   —   But our toil He doth richly repay;   —   Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,   —   But is blessed if we trust and obey.

But we never can prove the delights of His love   —   Until all on the altar we lay;   —   For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,   —   Are for them who will trust and obey.

Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,   —   Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;   —   What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;   —   Never fear, only trust and obey.

John H. Sammis   1887

Meeting in The Air

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

[17] Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

When Jesus comes in the air, He will catch away all those He has redeemed by His blood, first from the graves then those who are alive.

He will meet them in the air and take them home to glory to be with Him.  Praise God, I am Redeemed!

Imagine the media trying to explain this.

Meeting in The Air

You have heard of little Moses in the bulrush,   —   You have heard of fearless David and his sling; — You have heard the story told of dreaming Joseph, —  And of Jonah and the whale you often sing. — There are many, many others thru the Bible, — I should like to meet them all, I do declare!  —  By and by the Lord will surely let us meet them  —  At the meeting in the air.

CHORUS:

There is going to be a meeting in the air,  —  In the sweet, sweet by and by;  —  I am going to meet you, meet you there —  In that home beyond the sky. —  Such singing you will hear, never heard by mortal ear — 'Twill be glorious, I do declare!  —  And God's own Son will be the leading One — At the meeting in the air.

Many things will there be missing, in that meeting, — For the mourner's bench will have no place at all;  —  There will never be a sermon preached to sinners, —  For the sinner had refused to heed the call.   —    There will be no mourning over wayward loved ones,    —    There will be no lonely nights of pleading prayer;  — All our burdens and our anguish will be lifted —  At the meeting in the air.

Stand By Me

John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

When believers learn to come into close fellowship with Jesus, then we will begin to experience the peace and power of God in our hearts.

There is trouble in the world but in our lives there will be joy.

We can know Jesus stands beside us in all situations.

Stand By Me

When the storms of life are raging, stand by me.  — When the storms of life are raging, stand by me. —  When the world is tossing me, like a ship upon the sea, — thou who rulest wind and water, stand by me.

In the midst of tribulation, stand by me. —  In the midst of tribulation, stand by me.  —  When the hosts of hell assail, and my strength begins to fail,  —  Thou who never lost a battle, stand by me.

In the midst of faults and failures, stand by me.  — In the midst of faults and failures, stand by me.  —  When I do the best I can, and my friends misunderstand,  —  Thou who knowest all about me, stand by me.

When I'm growing old and feeble, stand by me — When I'm growing old and feeble, stand by me. — When my life becomes a burden, and I'm nearing chilly Jordan,    —    O thou Lily of the Valley, stand by me.

If We Never Meet Again

1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

[14] For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

As Christians, we have a sorrow at the death of our loved ones, but we also have hope of seeing them again.

I’m also looking forward to seeing brothers and sisters in the Lord that I haven’t seen in many years.

If We Never Meet Again

Soon we’ll come to the end of life’s journey,     —   And perhaps we’ll never meet anymore    —   Till we gather in Heaven’s bright city    —   Far away on that beautiful shore.

CHORUS:

If we never meet again this side of Heaven — As we struggle through this world and its strife, — There’s another meeting place somewhere in Heaven,— By the side of the river of life — Where the charming roses bloom forever — And where separations come no more. — If we never meet again this side of Heaven,     —   I will meet you on that beautiful shore.

Oh so often we’re parted with sorrow. — Benedictions often quicken our pain. — But we never shall sorrow in Heaven.— God be with you till we meet again.

Oh they say we shall meet by the river    —   Where no storm clouds ever darken the sky,    —   And they say we’ll be happy in Heaven    —   In the wonderful sweet by and by.

Where No One Stands Alone

Psalm 143:8 Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.

The best advice that can be given to those in the valley is to continue to walk consistently with Jesus day by day.

You are never alone. Jesus is always with you.

He will help you.

Where No One Stands Alone

Once I stood in the night  —  With my head bowed low  —  In the darkness as black as could be.  —  And my heart felt alone and I cried, “Oh Lord  —  Don’t hide Your face from me.”

Like a king I may live in a palace so tall  —  With great riches to call my own.  —   But I don’t know a thing    —    In this whole wide world    —    That’s worse than being alone.

Hold my hand all the way — Every hour every day — From here to the great unknown. — Take my hand, let me stand — Where no one stands alone.

Sweet Hour of Prayrt

Matthew 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing.

Prayer is vitally important to the spiritual life of every Christian.

We should always be in thoughts of prayer, whether verbal or silent, believing  the Lord will hear us and answer according to His will.

Sweet Hour of Prayer

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer! — That calls me from a world of care, — And bids me at my Father’s throne — Make all my wants and wishes known.    —    In seasons of distress and grief,    —    My soul has often found relief,    —    And oft escaped the tempter’s snare,  —  By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!  —  Thy wings shall my petition bear — To Him whose truth and faithfulness — Engage the waiting soul to bless.    —    And since He bids me seek His face,  —  Believe His Word and trust His grace,  —  I’ll cast on Him my every care,    —    And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!  —  May I thy consolation share,  —  Till, from Mount Pisgah’s lofty height, —  I view my home and take my flight.  —  This robe of flesh I’ll drop, and rise    —    To seize the everlasting prize,    —    And shout, while passing through the air,    —    “Farewell, farewell, sweet hour of prayer!”

A Shelter in the Time of Storm

Isaiah 25:4  For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.

If you have experienced the faithfulness of God in the hard times of your life, you understand the shelter in the time of storm.

Praise Him because He is always there when you need Him.

A Shelter in the Time of Storm

The Lord’s our Rock, in Him we hide,   —    A Shelter in the time of storm;   —    Secure whatever ill betide,   —    A Shelter in the time of storm.

CHORUS:

Oh, Jesus is a Rock in a weary land, a weary land, a weary land;   —    Oh, Jesus is a Rock in a weary land,   —    A Shelter in the time of storm.

A shade by day, defense by night,   —    A Shelter in the time of storm;   —    No fears alarm, no foes afright,   —    A Shelter in the time of storm.

The raging storms may round us beat,   —    A Shelter in the time of storm;   —    We’ll never leave our safe Retreat,   —    A Shelter in the time of storm.

O Rock divine, O Refuge dear,   —    A Shelter in the time of storm;   —    Be Thou our Helper ever near,   —    A Shelter in the time of storm.
