They That Wait Upon The Lord

We learn about ourselves while waiting on God. Are we selfish or shallow or impatient? Waiting will expose it.

More often than not, The Lord is teaching us lessons or developing our faith and confidence in Him as we wait.

Isaiah 40:28-31  Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. . . . He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. . . . Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: . . . But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

We learn obedience while waiting on God. So, wait for God’s strength, His direction, His comfort, His deliverance. The Lord promised it all. It will come.

Know that God protects and preserves us as we wait.

One day the waiting will be over, Praise God! Isaiah 25:9 “And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the Lord; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.”

Think About Things Above

What do you think about most of the time? Family. Money. Food. God. Health. We tend to think on whatever is most important to us.

The Apostle Paul told us how believers should think.

Colossians 3:2  Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

A quick look at some of the following verses gives insight into what he is talking about. We are to pursue:

A deeper knowledge of Jesus, Col. 3:9,10
A clean, holy life, Col. 3:5-9
Godly virtues, Col. 3:12-17
Holiness in our domestic life, Col. 3:18-21
Holiness in our social life, Col. 3:22-4:1
An effective prayer life, Col.4:2
A fruitful witness, Col. 4:3-6

In other words, we are to live like Jesus lived, 1 John 2:6. We are to live out the fruit of the Spirit day by day, Gal. 5:22-23.

A Personal Relationship With God

When you are in a personal relationship with God, everything in your life is altered for the better.

Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

The Lord is intensely interested in what is happening in your life and mine.

He is touched with the feeling of our infirmities, Heb. 4:15.

His eye is on every detail of life, Heb. 4:13.

He is ever present, Heb. 13:5.

Looking back, didn’t the Lord move some mountains, fill in valleys, and make a straight path for our feet.

Praise God that He is intimately involved in the details of every one belonging to Him. Continual Bible reading, prayer, and surrender to His will sweetens our relationship with Him.

God's Glory Is Above The Heavens

Whether sitting among the sheep on a clear night or considering the battle with Goliath, David was well aware that there was none like the God he served.

Psalm 8:1 O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.

Just as David needed great strength and wisdom for the many trials he encountered, so do we. Facing chemotherapy, I was told that I’m a strong woman.

Really, I’m not that strong, but I know my strength is in the Lord. I know that He will be with me as He was twenty years ago when I faced the same.

Many people are struggling today because of hurricanes. I see piles of debris at the road-side in Southeast Texas. My heart goes out to those who lost everything in the flood.

If they can carry the broken pieces of their lives to the One whose glory is above the heavens, He is able to put them back together again because He dearly loves His children.

Spirit And Truth Worship

Worship is all that we are, reacting to all that God is, offering adoration in praise, prayer, song, giving, and living -- always based upon His revealed truth.

John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

The only access any person has to the Father is through the Son - 1 Tim. 2:5, so salvation is essential to spiritual worship.

The Holy Spirit must lead in worship – 1 Cor. 2:11, and we must yield to Him --  meditate on God's Word and talk to him in prayer.

Sin hinders the flow of spiritual things between God and man, Psa. 66:1, so it must be cleansed by humble confession to the Lord.

Private worship is essential to true public worship.

Abounding In Hope

The Apostle Paul had come to the place in life where he realized that Jesus was enough. He wanted others to know they could live abundantly in Christ, abounding in hope.

Romans 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Believers are not expected to navigate this uncertain path alone. We have the Spirit abiding within, guiding our steps, guarding our hearts, and convicting us of error.

Having the Spirit within affords great peace and hope in Christ. There is never a situation that He can’t guide us through or provide the support we need to endure.

If you are struggling, seek the Lord for His help.

If you have yet to receive Christ in salvation, seek the Lord for salvation and receive Christ by faith.

The God Of The Impossible

When the prophet Jeremiah considers the work of God’s hands, he understands that he is serving a God with Whom nothing shall be impossible.

Jeremiah 32:17  Ah Lord God! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:

The heavens above us and the world around us declare the power and Person of God. His creation declares Him to be The God Of The Impossible.

Regardless of what lies in your path today, remember that if you are His through Redemption, you belong to the God Who made it all.

If He can make everything out of nothing, He can be trusted to take care of you. He is an amazing God.
