Free Indeed

The freedom we enjoy as Americans was not cheap. Over one million brave soldiers paid for our freedoms with their blood.

Many Americans are free socially, but bound spiritually.

You see, a person can be locked away in a prison and still be free in Jesus. A person can live in an atheistic, godless society and still be free in Jesus. Jesus has the power to make men truly free.

John 8:32,36 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. . . . .  If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

The truth about Jesus is found in the Gospel message, 1 Cor. 15:3-4 and on every page of the Word of God.

The truth about Jesus is revealed to the sinner by the Holy Spirit as he opens the eyes of the blind and guides them to the Light.

Believers have been made free:

— Free from the wrath of God – Rom. 5:9
— Free from condemnation – Rom. 8:1
— Free from death and Hell – John 5:24; John 3:16
— Free from the power of sin – Rom. 6:13-14
— Free from the power of Satan – 1 Pet. 5:8-9

Come Unto Me

From what I see, there’s a lot of people absolutely worn out from trying — pressed down by weight — struggling with sin and vain attempts at self-righteousness.

Jesus has the answer.

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

I’m glad Jesus included “all” in his great invitation. If there had been conditions, it may have excluded some of us.

Thank God, there is a rest for the weary soul.

So, anyone, anywhere who hears the invitation from the Son of God can come and find salvation.

Revelation 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

God Is Faithful

Over and over again and again God is faithful.

How many times has the Lord made a straight path for your feet? How many times did you not know?

How many times did He answer your prayers, and how many times did He overflow your joy cup?

I can easily get wrapped up in counting those times and usually wind up singing “Through It All”, beautiful words penned by Andrae Crouch.

“Through it all, through it all,I've learned to trust in Jesus,
I've learned to trust in God.

Through it all — through it all — I've learned to depend upon His Word.”

Then I get the Kleenex box because there were too many times to count.

Hope In The Resurrection

Our world is not a place that lends itself to hope. When you consider deaths, diseases, natural disasters, evil and other negatives; there’s not a lot of room for hope.
But I find a powerful hope — a comforting hope — in the letter the Apostle Paul wrote to encourage some Christians at Thessalonica. They worried about their deceased loved ones.

1 Thessalonians 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. . . .

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

[17] Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

The following song boosted my hope in the car this morning.

“On the resurrection morning — When all the dead in Christ shall rise — I'll have a new body — Praise the Lord, I'll have a new life

Sewed in weakness, raised in power — Ready to live in Paradise. — I'll have a new body — Praise the Lord, I'll have a new life.” — Luther G. Presley

Spirit Of The Living God

Those who are in the family begin to act like the family. They develop the same traits.

The same holds true in the life of the believer. A saved person will develop traits like the Heavenly Father's Family. The main trait being led by the Spirit of God.

Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

You see, every child of God has the Holy Spirit living within him.

Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

The Spirit will make His presence known. He will change the life He inhabits.

“Spirit of the Living God, fall fresh on me.
Spirit of the Living God, fall fresh on me
Melt me, mold me, — Fill me, use me.
Spirit of the Living God, fall fresh on me.”

There’s Something About That Name

There is a name that’s above every name. It’s a name that prompts the citizens of Heaven to shout and the citizens of Hell to shudder.

A name that brings help to the helpless, peace to the tormented, rest to the restless, hope to the hopeless and comfort to the comfortless.

This name has cooled the fevered brow; broken the chains of sin; delivered the captive and thrilled the saint. This name is Jesus

Philippians 2:10-11 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. — There’s just something about that name.
Master. Savior. Jesus. — Like the fragrance after the rain.
Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. —  Let all heaven and earth proclaim.
Kings and kingdoms will all pass away. — But there’s something about that name.

Prayer Works

It’s easy to forget the tremendous, glorious privilege that belongs to us as children of God — the privilege of prayer.

Prayer is a privilege because it has the ability to achieve the impossible - James 5:15.

Prayer opens doors, hinders evil, touches the sick, and convicts the sinner.

Literally everything we do must be bathed in a sea of prayer.

Prayer is a privilege because it gives us an opportunity to exalt our Heavenly Father.

Prayer works! Our need is for more people to pray.

Psalm 55:16-17 As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me. Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.
