Redemption

To be acceptable to God, we needed the righteousness He possesses. We had no way to obtain such righteousness until Jesus offered Himself as the perfect, sinless, atoning sacrifice for our sin.

Luke 23:33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. . . .
John 19:30 . . . .he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

At that moment redemption was secured for all who come to Him by faith.

It is finished” was not a cry of defeat and anguish but a cry of victory. Jesus came to provide for our redemption, purchasing us from the slave block of sin, never to return again.

He suffered death for us, but death was not final for Him. He rose triumphant over sin and death. He ascended back to the Father with the promise of coming again.

In Christ there is hope and assurance for eternal life for those who believe --  but for those who reject His offer of salvation, death and suffering will be eternal. Humbly seek Jesus today.

Answered Prayers

Prayer requires practice and passion, but it also requires patience. God will reward the faithful and fervent prayers with fulfillment.

Luke 11:9-10  And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

We are encouraged to ask, seek, and knock. Each of these verbs speaks of a continual action, an ongoing process.

Notice: “every one that asketh receiveth”. That’s pretty simple but also extremely profound

The Lord wants us to come before Him with our needs in an attitude of faith, believing that He will hear and answer our prayers. Jam.4:2

Two nights ago I woke up with an annoying headache. I said, “Lord God Almighty, if you will, please take away this headache.” I expected it to be done and it was. Prayer answered.

Today my doctor showed me the Pathology Report declaring no cancer anywhere after the surgical removal of a rare cancer. Prayer answered.

God has answered many prayers in my life. His answer isn’t always what I expected, but it’s always what I need. God is good.

What Manner Of Man Is This?

Upon calming the storm-raged sea, the disciples made a profound discovery. The Lord was Master of their lives.

Luke 8:25 And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.

Jesus not only had power over death, disease, and despair, as the desciples had witnessed in the lives of others, but He had power over the storms in their own lives.

“What manner of Man is this,” they asked.

I rejoice for those times I have been allowed to catch a glimpse of who Jesus is, especially during a storm in my life.

Storms will come, but believers have an Anchor that is sure.

Are you struggling in a storm today? Is Jesus in your midst? Have you trusted Him in salvation?

He stands ready to meet whatever need you may have. Seek Him. Trust Him.

Life After Death

When Jesus arrived at Nain, he met a great crowd of mourners making their way through the gates of the city to a little cemetery where the young man they carried on a bier was to be buried.

The victim was the only son of his widowed mother.  With compassion, Jesus moved in grace and power that day as He broke up that funeral procession.

Luke 7:14-15 And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise. And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.

Jesus gave the son back to his mother.  He gave them hope in place of fear. He gave them life instead of death. He gave them joy.

What Jesus did that day in Nain, He did in my life one day as well. I was dead in my sins and in a desperate condition, but He came in grace and turned my death and desperation into a time of deliverance when I believed in Him.

He gave me hope. He gave me eternal life instead of  death.

What a Savior!  What love!  What grace!

Don't Worry About It

Jesus spent some time telling His disciples not to worry. After all, they are children of the King and He will see to their needs. He will see to the needs of all believers.

Luke 12:32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

Jesus points out God's gracious provision for the birds and how we – His flock -- are much more valuable (v. 22-24).

He compares us to how he dresses the lovely flowers of the field, yet believers are more precious and better cared for than these (v 27-28).

He then tells us the secret of being free from the worries of life. It's pretty simple. Live for the Lord and love Him.

Oh how precious God takes care of His own. Believe it.

Restored And Rekindled

When functioning as we should, believers are a light to the world, showing others the way of God and the way to God.

2 Cor. 9:8, “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:”

But how many times has our faith and witness grown dim? How many times have we been all smoke and no light?

It would’ve been easy for the Lord to quench our feeble flame and simply snuff us out, but He is always willing to forgive us, restore us and rekindle us when we call on Him, confessing our sins      (1 John 1:9)..

Phil. 1:6, “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:”

Strength For Weakness

When the Lord said to the Apostle Paul, --  “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness…,” 2 Cor. 12:9, --  He was saying, “Paul, I am going to give you the support you need to make it through this day and all the days that lie ahead.”

Believers have that same promise.  God is with us and will help us to be faithful day in and day out.

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;  Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.  I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.”  John 14:16-18.

When we trust in The Lord for any situation, we exchange our weakness for His strength. We exchange our inability for His ability. We exchange our shortcomings for His completeness.
