Something About That Name

Jesus is the Anointed One and the honored One. He is the fulfillment of all the promises, plans and types of God.

Philippians 2:10-11  That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

The name of Jesus is a Name  ---
that thrills the soul of the believer.
at which the devils tremble.
that gains man access to the God of Glory.
that moves mountains.
that convicts the sinner.
that opens the door to the blessings of God.
that is above every name.
that causes sinners to bow in repentance.

Kings and kingdoms will all pass away, but there’s something about that Name.

God Hears Your Cry

There were times in David’s life when the gates of cities were closed to him. He couldn’t go to Jerusalem or the tabernacle to pray. His enemies wanted to kill him.

But the gates of Heaven -- even the Throne Room of God --  opened to his cry where he was.

2 Samuel 22:5-7 When the waves of death compassed me, the floods of ungodly men made me afraid; The sorrows of hell compassed me about; the snares of death prevented me; In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried to my God: and he did hear my voice out of his temple, and my cry did enter into his ears.

Have you ever been at the end of your distress rope and cried out to God?  I have. I can tell you some victory stories.

This is the kind of blessing enjoyed by those who have an intimate relationship with their Lord. His ears are ever opened to their cries.

The Unsearchable Wisdom Of God

Believers need to stop trying to figure out what God is doing in their lives and simply trust Him. I’m the worst. I should know better. His thoughts are much higher than ours.

God knows what He’s doing. We don’t. He sees the future and knows what’s best for now and then.  We don’t. He wants to grow us and use us for His glory.

Romans 11:33-34 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?

We will never fully understand God, His ways or the depth of His wisdom [Job 30-40].

Oh, that we would bow before Him and His glory and exalt His worthy Name.

Oh, that we would learn to trust Him by faith in every situation..

The Lord Is My Shepherd

I have visited the Valley of the Shadow of Death more than once, and the Lord delivered me and calmed my fears each time.

Psalm 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

The shepherd’s staff was a long pole with a crook near the end, used to draw sheep close when they began to wander or to lift them out of dangerous crevices. The rod was much shorter, used to protect the sheep from attacks.

The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want . . . Psalm 23:1. Born again believers enjoy a place of absolute protection and comfort night and day.

John 10:27-28 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

The Precious Word Of God

The Word of God is like a compass that guides the people of God through the desert of this world.

Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

The Word of God tells us how great God is. The Word of God is powerful.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Those who read the Word, honor the Word, and live by the Word know how precious the Word of God is.

Unanswered Whys

You may never get an answer to the why questions. Why did God send you this or that unpleasant experience?

You can rest assured that when life makes no sense, God has a purpose for everything. The Apostle Paul said that when he is weak, then is he strong in the Lord.

Psalm 46:1-2 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

Do unanswered whys really matter when God is working his plan in your life, growing and shaping you for His glory? Trust Him.

About Jesus

Nothing is as important as Jesus. Nothing is to come before Jesus. Nothing is to outshine Jesus. Nothing is to eclipse Jesus.

He is to be out in front in our lives, in our families, in our priorities, in our churches, in our dreams, in our worship, in everything;

Colossians 1:16-17 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

Jesus has the right to lead us to where He wants us to be. We should follow.
