As the Deer

Psalm 42:1,8 As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.

[8] Yet the Lord will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.

When we personally know the loving kindness of our Lord, we will lift Him up in honor and praise.

As the Deer

_______________

As the deer panteth for the water, — So my soul longeth after Thee. —   You alone are my heart’s desire,    —   And I long to worship Thee

CHORUS:

You alone are my Strength, my Shield;    —   To You alone may my spirit yield.    —   You alone are my heart’s desire,    —   And I long to worship Thee.

You’re my Friend and You are my Brother,    —   Even though You are a King.    —   I love You more than any other,    —   So much more than anything.

I want You more than gold or silver, —  Only You can satisfy. — You alone are the real joy-giver    —   And the apple of my eye.

Martin Nystrom, 1984

Until Then

James 5:8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

It’s hard to be patient when you are waiting to see Jesus.

This world gets weary.

“But until then my heart will go on singing.”  (Stuart Hamblen)

Until Then

_______________

My heart can sing when I pause to remember.    —   A heartache here is but a stepping stone    —   Along a path that's winding always upward.    —   This troubled world is not my final home.

CHORUS

But until then my heart will go on singing,    —   Until then with joy I'll carry on;    —   Until the day my eyes behold that city,    —   Until the day God calls me home.

The things of earth will dim and lose their value    —   If we recall they're borrowed for awhile.    —   And things of earth that cause this heart to tremble    —   Remembered there will only bring a smile.

This weary world with all its toil and struggle    —   May take its toll of misery and strife.    —   The soul of man is like a waiting falcon    —   When it's released, it's destined for the skies.

God Leads Us Along

Isaiah 43:2  When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

God reminds the Israelites that He has met their need since day one and that He has pledged Himself to continue to do just that.

What does this mean for us? God has not changed!

What He did for Israel, He can do for you and me!

After all, He is no respecter of persons

God Leads Us Along

_______________________

In shady, green pastures, so rich and so sweet,   —    God leads His dear children along;   —    Where the water’s cool flow bathes the weary one’s feet,   —    God leads His dear children along.

CHORUS:

Some through the waters, some through the flood,   —    Some through the fire, but all through the blood;   —    Some through great sorrow, but God gives a song,   —    In the night season and all the day long.

Sometimes on the mount where the sun shines so bright,   —    God leads His dear children along;   —    Sometimes in the valley, in darkest of night,   —    God leads His dear children along.

Though sorrows befall us and Satan oppose,   —    God leads His dear children along;   —    Through grace we can conquer, defeat all our foes,   —    God leads His dear children along.

No One Ever Cared For Me Like Jesus

1 Peter 5:7  Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Worry about nothing.

Pray about every burden and leave it at the feet of Jesus.

Don’t pick it up again.

No One Ever Cared For Me Like Jesus

I would love to tell you what I think of Jesus,    —    Since I found in Him a friend so strong and true.    —    I would tell you how He changed my life completely;    —    He did something no other friend could do.

CHORUS:

No one ever cared for me like Jesus;    —    There's no other friend so kind as He.    —    No one else could take the sin and darkness from me;    —    O how much He cared for me.

All my life was full of sin when Jesus found me;  —  All my heart was full of misery and woe, — Jesus placed His strong arms about me  — And He led me in the way I ought to go.

Eday He comes to me with new assurance;    —    More and more I understand His word of love.    —    But I'll never know just why He came to save me,    —    Till someday I see His blessed face above.

In The Garden

Romans 5:1-2  Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

[2] By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

John 15:9   As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.

A sweet love intimacy between us and the Lord Jesus Christ soars above any other relationship.

I come to the garden alone, — While the dew is still on the roses, —  And the voice I hear falling on my ear    —   The Son of God discloses.

CHORUS:

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,    —   And He tells me I am His own;    —   And the joy we share as we tarry there,    —   None other has ever known.

He speaks, and the sound of His voice    —   Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,    —   And the melody that He gave to me    —   Within my heart is ringing.

I’d stay in the garden with Him,    —   Though the night around me be falling,    —   But He bids me go; through the voice of woe    —   His voice to me is calling.

Does Jesus Care?

1 Peter 5:6-7 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

[7] Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

We are told to humbly give all our burden to Jesus.

How can we do this?

With the absolute confidence that He cares for us, Heb. 4:15.

Does Jesus Care?

_____________________________

Does Jesus care when my heart is pained    —    Too deeply for mirth or song,  —  As the burdens press, and the cares distress,  —  And the way grows weary and long?

CHORUS:

Oh, yes, He cares, I know He cares,    —    His heart is touched with my grief;  —  When the days are weary, the long nights dreary,  —  I know my Savior cares.

Does Jesus care when my way is dark    —    With a nameless dread and fear?  —  As the daylight fades into deep night shades,  — Does He care enough to be near?

Does Jesus care when I’ve tried and failed    —   To resist some temptation strong;  — When for my deep grief there is no relief, — Though my tears flow all the night long?

Does Jesus care when I’ve said “goodbye”    —   To the dearest on earth to me,    —   And my sad heart aches till it nearly breaks    —   Is it aught to Him? Does He see?

A Shelter in the Time of Storm

Isaiah 25:4  For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.

God is good.  He is our strength and refuge when we need Him.

He is our Shelter in the time of storm.

A Shelter in the Time of Storm

The Lord’s our Rock, in Him we hide,    —   A Shelter in the time of storm;    —   Secure whatever ill betide,   —   A Shelter in the time of storm.

CHORUS:

Oh, Jesus is a Rock in a weary land,  — A weary land, a weary land;  — Oh, Jesus is a Rock in a weary land,  — A Shelter in the time of storm.

A shade by day, defense by night,  — A Shelter in the time of storm; — No fears alarm, no foes afright,  —  A Shelter in the time of storm.

The raging storms may round us beat,    —   A Shelter in the time of storm;    —   We’ll never leave our safe Retreat,    —   A Shelter in the time of storm.

O Rock divine, O Refuge dear, — A Shelter in the time of storm;  — Be Thou our Helper ever near,   —  A Shelter in the time of storm.
