Standing On The Promises

Life can seem incredibly unfair at times. Our dreams can be put to the test.

When things appear hopeless — when the shattered pieces of our dreams lie all around us — don’t despair.

Cling to the precious promises of our great God.

Psalm 37:23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.

Job 23:10 But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Trust that the Judge of all the earth will do right. He is in control.

Despite how things appear to our human eyes and reasoning, God has a plan and nothing can derail that plan.

Bring your burden to the Lord and leave it there. Stand on His promises.

Never Alone

Peter is scheduled to be tried and executed the very next morning and what is he doing?  He isn’t praying for deliverance or writing his last will and testament. He’s sleeping like a baby.

Acts 12:6-7 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

[7] And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

God had given Peter “peace that passeth understanding”. The bars, the locks, the guards and the walls proved to be no barrier to the Lord.

When we find ourselves in prisons of despair and trials we are never alone. Our Lord promised us that He would always be with us, John 14:18.

— The Lord was in the fiery furnace before the Hebrew boys arrived, Dan. 3:25.

— The Lord was in the lions den before Daniel arrived. Dan. 6:22.

— The Lord of peace is in your trial before you arrive.

The Compassion Of Jesus

The tired and hungry multitude had been with Jesus three days, and the Lord was moved by their need to eat.

Mark 8:2  I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat:

Knowing it wasn’t enough, at Jesus’ request the disciples gathered all the food they had —seven loaves of bread and a few small fish.

I wonder how the disciples felt, seating the people on the ground in sections and feeding them all they wanted and even having left overs. What a miracle!

Five times in the Gospels it’s recorded that Jesus was “moved with compassion”. This is a glimpse inside the heart of our Lord.

I’m thankful that we serve a Savior Who is interested in the things that affect our lives. This kind of concern and compassion can be seen throughout the pages of the Word of God. We serve a God Who cares.

1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Just Keep On Praying

God’s greatest works are often accomplished in silence.

He didn’t answer Job until the end of the book – Job 42:1-17.

We shouldn’t question the silence of God. Why? Because His plans and ways are not like ours - Isaiah 55:8-9.

Regardless of what the problems of life appear to be to our troubled minds, they are never what they seem. They are the work of God in our lives.

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Remember this:
— No matter how hard the winds blow, God is Ruler of the winds.
— No matter how rough the sea becomes, God is Master of the sea.
— When God doesn’t answer, just keep on praying till light breaks through.
— Never give up.

The Ark of Safety

Intermarriage between the godly line of Seth and the ungodly offspring of Cain was an attempt by Satan to pervert the human bloodline and prevent the birth of the Messiah. Gen. 3:15. The children born of this union were evil beyond words. Get. 6:1-5.

God’s solution was to destroy mankind. Gen. 6:6-7

Genesis 6:8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

One man, Noah, was still walking in the ways of the Lord. God gave Him grace, telling him how to build the Ark — a sanctuary against the storm of wrath that was brewing against the sin and evil found on earth

His neighbors must have thought Noah was insane, constructing a ship for dry ground, but the Ark would be the only hope humanity had in that generation.

Can you see how the ancient Ark pictures Jesus? Jesus is our Ark of safety, to be saved from the wrath of God which will be poured out on this world according to prophecy.

Jesus died for your sins and mine on the cross.  He rose from the dead, and He is calling you to come to Him for salvation. I hope you already know Him.

Were it not for the grace of God, Noah would never have known about the flood that would have killed him or the Ark that would have saved him. Both of those were the gift of amazing grace.

Is God calling you to come into the Ark of Salvation today? Seek Him.

Thank God For Salvation.

Psalm 40:2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

David speaks as one who is wounded by the problems and burdens of life.  But God reached out to him, even in that horrible time, and extended His tenderness.

Being a lost sinner is like being in a horrible pit, while the enemy of the soul, Satan, howls against us — mocking, taunting and condemning.

Thank God for the tender hand of the Lord Jesus that reached out to touch us in our wounded condition.

When we picked up the broken pieces of our lives and laid them at the feet of Jesus, He didn’t turn us away.

When we needed Him most He took us in, bound up our wounds and gave us rest. Thank God for Salvation!

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Because Jesus Lives

1 Corinthians 15:16-17,19 For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.

1 Corinthians 15:20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
Because Jesus is risen:

— Our preaching is not a waste of time.

— Our faith is not wasted. We are not liars.  We are not lost.

— Our departed loved ones live on in His presence.

— We are not to be pitied, but to be envied by all who see us live the new life and hear our message of salvation through the shed blood of Jesus and His empty tomb.

Thank God, this thing is real.
