The Unlimited Riches In Christ

Spiritual paupers actually possess limitless spiritual wealth. They are like the young man on a railroad platform begging money for food. He approaches an elderly man and says, “Sir, can you spare a dime?”

When the old man turns, the young man sees the face of the father he hasn’t seen in eighteen years. The father immediately recognizes his son, embraces him and through tears he says, “A dime? Why, my son, I have been searching for you for eighteen years so that I can give you everything I have.”

There is no lack of power, glory and blessings for the children of God. The Apostle Paul prayed that we receive the riches of God's glory.

Ephesians 3:16-17 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,

To often we are more concerned with the physical than the spiritual. God’s power and glory are limitless, and our access to them is only limited by our ability to yield to Him.

Jesus Cares For You

God is often portrayed as a God of wrath and judgment. That’s one side of His character, but He is also a God of love, compassion and intimacy. He is a God Who cares.

One reason He cares is because He knows what we face in life. When He came to earth He endured more than His share of pain, poverty and suffering.

Jesus knows what it’s like to do without (Matt. 8:20). He knows what it’s like to be rejected, (John 1:11). He knows what it’s like to be hated.

Jesus will help you in your time of need because He cares.

1 Peter 5:6-7  Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

The Good Shepherd

The Lord could have compared His people to---

Bears – they are strong
Lions – they are  brave
Foxes – they are shrewd and wise
Doves – they are peaceful and meek

But He called us sheep. Sheep have a reputation for being stupid. They are defenseless and require a shepherd to care, to lead, and to protect them.

John 10:27-28   My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

As Believers, we enjoy a special intimate bond with our Shepherd. Jesus knows those prone to wander. He knows the weaker ones and the loyal ones. He knows our names. He loves us and by His grace works in our lives to make us bear fruit for His glory.

If we ever come to understand the care of our Shepherd, being called a sheep isn't so bad.

Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.

The Child Of God

At the very instant of conversion (salvation), God in Heaven becomes our Father and we enter into a special relationship with Him.

1 John 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

As a child of God, we have unlimited and unhindered access to the Father in Heaven (Heb. 4:14-16).

As a child of God, we can take our burdens to Him and find help.

We can take our problems to Him and find solutions.

We can take our hurts to Him and find healing.

Because we are the children of God, we can and should go to the Father and allow Him to minister to our needs.

We should praise Him.

A Faithful Friend

The effects of David’s sin with Bathsheba are in full bloom. He has seen his family demolished, innocent lives devastated, and precious people destroyed all because of the choices he made. Now he’s on the run for his life from his own son.

David doesn’t need a lecture on being a better father or a seminar of how to govern a kingdom or someone telling him what a failure he is.  He knows. David needs a friend.

2 Samuel 15:21 And Ittai answered the king, and said, As the Lord liveth, and as my lord the king liveth, surely in what place my lord the king shall be, whether in death or life, even there also will thy servant be.

I can’t think of many friends like Ittai, but I’m glad that I have a Friend Who sticks closer than a brother. --  One Who said He will never walk out on me, Heb. 13:5.

My special Friend cares for me when I’m up and runs to my side when I’m down.

All the saints have such a Friend in Jesus.  He loved us even when we were His enemies. He gave His life on the cross to save our souls.  Jesus is a faithful friend.

Spiritual Joy

Happiness and true spiritual joy are available for every believer. We just have to make the effort to get it.

John 13:17  If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.

What things?

HUMILITY --- Helping others with his or her burden (Gal. 6:2)  ---  Forgiving another his trespasses (Eph. 4:32)  ---  Reaching out to someone outside the family of faith  (Mark 16:15)

HOLINESS. ---  Submission to the will of God. ---   Separated from the world and unto Jesus.

STUDY AND PRAYER  ---  Every day.

Why live anything less than a happy, fulfilling Christian life in spite of troubles?
Talk to God about areas in your life that need work? He will make them right.

Roy Rogers And Jesus

Back in the early 1990s I met Roy Rogers at his museum in California.  I was overcome with excitement when he hugged my daughter and me for the snap of a picture. I thought Roy Rogers, the greatest cowboy ever,  was the greatest!

At the age of ten I met Jesus at an altar under a tent and asked Him to forgive my sins. With salvation came peace with God and eternal life. Roy Rogers can't give peace or forgive sins..

The light of God delivered me from darkness and now guides my steps. Roy Rogers can't deliver.

God even gives me strength when I’m weak and guarantees my success. Roy Rogers can’t do that.

Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Light, salvation, and strength are great characteristics of God, giving us hope in the midst of battles. We don’t have to fear the enemy.
