God Is Good

Just as the sun delights the hearts of men, God lights and warms us on our way to Heaven.

Psalm 84:11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

The Lord is our shield—His Angel ever protecting us.

Psalm 34:7 The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

We are promised the grace of the Lord on our journey and His glory when we arrive in heaven. That’s help for today and hope for tomorrow.

The Lord loves to provide for the needs of His children, Luke 12:32. We must remember that we are His children and the sheep of His pasture, Psa. 100:3.

One reason we worry about troubles as we do is because we sometimes forget that we belong to God. We are His responsibility, Matt. 6:24-33.

He will bless our lives as we learn to trust Him—to rest in Him.

Peaceful Sleep

Leaving the battle to the Lord, David peacefully slept at night in spite of the enemy advancing in large numbers to take his life.

Psalm 3:5-6 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people that have set themselves against me round about.

Is something keeping you awake with worry—something you can do nothing about?

The life of the believer is in the hand of God. Give your worry to Him.

Sleep with peace of mind and confidence in His great power.

What have we to fear when the Lord is on our side? Trust Him.

God Makes The Difference

God didn’t wait for us to improve our sinful condition before giving us salvation. He set His love on us while we were spiritually dead in our sins, in spite of our wickedness.

He reached down to us when He knew we could not and would not reach up to Him.

Ephesians 2:3-5  Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

God makes the first move in salvation because the lost sinner is incapable of making the first move toward God.

1 John 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.

John 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

But God” marks the difference between life and death—a life of turmoil and a life of peace—a life of sin and sorrow and a life lived to the glory of God—a life between salvation and damnation—a life between Heaven and Hell.

In the Lord’s mercy He turns His wrath away from the “children of wrath” and extends to them His forgiveness and salvation. He doesn’t give them the judgment they deserve.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Making Melody To The Lord

Gospel music has lifted my spirit, humbled my heart, and washed my eyes with tears as comfort carried me through difficult places.

The phrases below are a few of many that draws me to worship and gives me hope in a weary world.

“Because I know He holds the future, and life is worth the living just because He lives.”

“When He was on the cross, I was on His mind.”

“He still cares; He still hears; He’s still mending broken hearts and drying tears.”

“Keep on, be brave, hold fast, have faith, pray hard, fear not, stay strong, keep on.”

“Did I mention that I love Him, that I worship and adore Him—when I can find no way He makes a way.”

“There’s nothing that can clear our painful pasts, bear our bitter pain, or will ever take our place—except for grace.“

“I once was lost but now I’m found was blind but now I see.”

“Kings and kingdoms will all pass away, but there’s something about that Name.“

Ephesians 5:18-19 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord

There’s Something About That Name

The name of Jesus brings help to the helpless, peace to the tormented, rest to the restless, hope to the hopeless and comfort to the comfortless.

This name has cooled the fevered brow; broken the chains of sin, delivered the captive and thrilled the saints.

Kings and kingdoms will all pass away, but there’s something about that name.

Philippians 2:9-11 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Every being in all the universe is called to humbly bow in submission and surrender to this man named Jesus, to acknowledge His position, His power and His glory.

Whether you do it willingly or not, there is coming a day when every angel, every demon, every saint, every sinner, even Satan himself will bow to that name.

Romans 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

The Walls Came Tumblin’ Down

God promised Israel victory over Jericho if they followed His plan, but some extremely huge walls stood in the way.

The outer wall was 6 ft. thick and about 20 ft. high. The inner wall was about 12 ft. thick and 30 ft. high. Between the walls was a guarded walkway about 15 ft. wide.

It was a strange plan but it was God’s plan, and Joshua and his army followed it by faith.

Inside the walls the people heard ram's horn trumpets and soldier's feet pounding the ground—once each day, six days in all. The seventh day they marched around seven times.

I like Elvis’ rendition of the Walls of Jericho Song.

Then the lamb ram sheep horns began to blow
The trumpets began to sound
The people shouted “Glory!”
And the walls came tumblin' down.

1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

God’s way may seem too hard, too slow or, as in this case, too foolish; but His way is always the best way.

Don’t look upon your obstacles as dead-ends, but as opportunities for the Lord to work in your life.

The Call To Serve

Paul tells Timothy that it’s the Gospel that compels him to serve the Lord.

2 Timothy 1:11 Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.

The Lord chooses when, where and how we are to serve Him. Our job is to be available, willing, yielded, usable and faithful.

By His grace, we will fulfill His call on our lives for His glory.

Psalm 84:10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
