There Is A Rest

There is a rest that gives us peace with God and peace of soul. There is a rest that comes from serving Jesus.

There is a joy, a fulfillment, a happiness that can be found no where else in life.

“Are you weary and tired from the struggles of life? —-  Are you weary from the storms you have been called to face? —-

Are you worn out from trying to serve Him in the power of your flesh? —-  Are you weary from your burden of sin? —-  There is rest in Jesus for those who will come to Him.”  —-  Tommy Dorsey

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Victory

Victory demands a high price. The victory you and I have in Jesus is ours because God paid the price by sending His own Son to die for us on the cross.

All that is required to have victory is faith in His Person, His Plans, His Purposes and His Power.

Isaiah 25:8 He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it.

God's people need not fear death - Death is swallowed up in victory.  2 Cor. 5:1-8, Phil. 1:21-23; 1 Thes, 4:13-17

A day of victory will come when Jesus Himself will wipe away all tears - Rev. 21:4. He will heal all broken hearts - Psa. 30:5.

Eventually we will go to a place where trials will be unwelcome, and unable to enter, Rom. 8:18.

Since we have the victory, God's people ought to be a rejoicing people - Phil. 4:4; Psa. 47:1

Enduring The Cross

Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Where is the joy in going to a cross? Where is the joy in dying like a common criminal and being rejected by people you love?

For Jesus, the joy was the day of redemption that would bring about the salvation of all believers.

The joy would be in Heaven with the redeemed of the ages when He would reclaim the glory He had shared with the Father from eternity past.

Jesus, looking past the cross and despising the shame, saw you and me in need of a Savior.

“He knew me. —- Yet he loved me.—- He who's glory makes the heaven's shine. —- I'm so unworthy, of such mercy. —- For while he was on the cross, I was on his mind.”

Thank you, Lord, for saving my soul.

God Knows Your Need

1 Kings 17:4  And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.

Imagine how Elijah felt when his brook dried up and the ravens quit bringing food and God sends him to a poor widow to meet his needs.

But Elijah knew that God knew more about taking care of prophets than Elijah did, so he just went and the Lord miraculously met his needs.

If you are worrying about what's happening in your life and trying to figure out what God is going to do about it, you will go crazy. You can't figure God out.

Isa. 55:8-9  For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

We must have faith in the great truth that God knows what He is doing in our lives. We must learn to trust His ways. He is in the process of making us more like Him.

Set Your Affection

There are times when our cast down, gloomy spirit can use a boost. Whether depressed about something or for no particularl reason, we need a blessing. Jesus is able to lift us out of that gunky hole.

Think about the things of God and what He has done in your life.

Colossians 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth

Regardless of how you feel, praise God. Pray to Him. Read the Word. Examine your heart. Confess any sin. Tell Jesus you love Him.

Lord help us to realize who we are and what we have in You. May that realization spark our walk for your glory.

The Eye Of The Lord

Psalm 33:18,20 Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; . . . . Our soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our shield.

While the sovereignly of God controls everything that takes place in His creation, He still takes an intimate interest in your life and mine.

Those who have looked to the Lord for their soul’s salvation are the recipients of His tender care. He will take care of His Own, Matt. 6:25-33.

He sees everything that happens to you — the pain, the problems, the hurts, the fears, the valleys, and the sorrows. Nothing escapes His gaze.

He knows more about your needs than you do. He will not desert you. He loves you and will take care of you until you join Him in glory.

He is worthy to be praised because He watches over all things, especially the needs of His people.
