The Mother Of Jesus

Young Mary was already a believer when she was chosen to be the vessel through which Jesus would come into the world. The Angel Gabriel told her about Him.

Luke 1:32-33 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

As she watched Him receive worship as God, she would never be the same.  “But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart”, Luke 2:19.

She would watch Him grow strong physically, mentally and spiritually. She would watch Him heal, hear Him preach, and see Him suffer.

Eventually, she would watch Him die on a cross for the sins of humanity and rise from the grave three days later.

Those who believe on Him (get saved) will never be the same.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Glory To God In The Highest

The angels praised God at Creation  (Job 38:7) as they behold His wonderful works. They praised Him around the throne in Revelation 7:11-12.

But when they saw God step off the throne and be born as a baby in human flesh, their song reaches new heights as the shepherds watch in awe.

Luke 2:13-14 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,  Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

If the angels can praise God for what they see Him do, then we should praise Him for what He has done in our hearts and lives, Psa. 40:1-2.

What are you looking for this Christmas? If it’s some material thing that you think you must have, you may be disappointed even if you get it.

But if you are seeking the Christ of Christmas, you will never be disappointed. He is still found of all who seek Him, and He still changes all who meet Him.

Away In A Manger

The thought that the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords would come to this world and be placed in a manger is almost beyond my level of comprehension.

Luke 2:7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

Think about it. A manger is a feeding trough for farm animals.

Why was the Lord of Glory placed in a manger?

Jesus allowed Himself to be laid in that manger to identify with those in poverty and those struggling; to help people with troubles and meet the needs of our lives.

2 Corinthians 8:9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

The Eternal Plan Of A Sovereign God

A Roman Emperor issues a decree and causes a poor carpenter and his pregnant wife to travel ninety miles to the home of their ancestors.

Certain shepherds just happen to be tending their flocks outside the very town the  couple are going.

Angelic beings just happen to show up at the right place, at the right time and with the right message.

These things didn’t just happen. They were the work of a Sovereign God accomplishing His eternal plan.

The true essence of Christmas is the virgin birth of a baby—not just any baby, but a baby who was and is God is human flesh.

Luke 2:7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

When you get a handle on who Jesus is, your whole concept of Christmas changes forever. It’s about God becoming a man to die for sinners.

Born To Die

What makes the conception of the Lord Jesus so fantastic is that He was born to a virgin.

Hundreds of years earlier the prophet Isaiah prophesied about this birth.

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

It must’ve shocked Mary when the angel Gabriel told her that God had chosen her to be the mother of Jesus.

Luke 1:34-35 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?  `And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

Without a virgin birth we don’t have a sinless Savior, and we have no hope of salvation.

Christmas is about that special day when God sent His Son into the world to be the perfect sacrifice for sins — to die on a bloody cross.

From Bethlehem to Calvary, Jesus was born to die.

Jesus — Glory To His Name

The angel tells Mary that her Son will “reign”. Mary is giving birth to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Luke 1:31,33  And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. . . . . And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

While Jesus lived in this world no one recognized His majesty, His glory or His authority.

Some looked at Him and saw a poor Jewish carpenter, others a revolutionary (one Who stirs up people), and some saw an earthly king when He fed the 5,000.

Pilate looked at Him and saw an innocent man. Martha and Peter saw the Son of God. A few looked at Him and saw a righteous man. Not many recognized the fullness of His glory.

One day, the name “JESUS” will be proclaimed from the throne of Heaven. The knee of every saint and angel will bow in worship and reverence.

The knee of every sinner will bow in acknowledgment of His lordship and glory.

The knee of every demon and of Satan himself will bow in recognition that Jesus Christ is Lord, all to the glory of God the Father!

Glory to Hs Name!

The Person Of Christmas

When the angel said, “Unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord,” Luke 2:11, he was announcing the birth of God in human flesh.
All through his life Jesus  proved who He was.

Over and over the truth and power of His deity was on constant display.

From:
—“Peace be still” to
—“Rise up and walk” to
—“Lazarus come forth” to
—“Thy sins be forgiven thee” to
—“It is finished

Jesus alone is the Person of Christmas.
