Thank You, Lord, For Your Blessings on me

Psalm 104:1 Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.

On this Thanksgiving Day of November 25, 2021, may we consider the many blessings the good Lord has bestowed upon us and our families.

Thank You, Lord, For Your Blessings on Me

The world looks upon me — as I struggle along, —They say I have nothing, but they are so wrong. — In my heart I'm rejoicing, how I wish they could see. Thank you, Lord, for your blessings on me.

CHORUS:

There's a roof up above me, — I've a good place to sleep.    —   There's food on my table — And shoes on my feet. — You gave me your love, Lord, —  And a fine family. —  Thank you Lord, for your blessings on me.

Now, I know I'm not wealthy, — and these clothes , they're not new. —  I don't have much money, — but, Lord, I have you.    —   And to me that's all that matters, — though the world cannot see. — Thank you, Lord, for your blessings on me.

James Easter 1954

Farther Along

1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

There are times we don’t understand why bad thangs happen to good people.

When Jesus comes things will be better.

Farther Along

______________________

Tempted and tried, we’re oft made to wonder   —   Why it should be thus all the day long;   —   While there are others living about us,   —   Never molested, though in the wrong.

CHORUS:

Farther along we’ll know more about it,   —   Farther along we’ll understand why;   —   Cheer up, my brother, live in the sunshine,   —   We’ll understand it all by and by.

Often when death has taken our loved ones,   —   Leaving our home so lone and so drear,   —   Then do we wonder why others prosper,   —   Living so wicked year after year.

“Faithful till death,” saith our loving Master   —    Short is our time to labor and wait;   —   Then will our toiling seem to be nothing,   —   When we shall pass the heavenly gate.

Soon we will see our dear, loving Savior,   —   Hear the last trumpet sound through the sky;   —   Then we will meet those gone on before us,   —   Then we shall know and understand why.

There are contradictory claims for the authorship of this song. The words and music are frequently attributed to W. B. Stevens, although others have attributed the words to W. A. Fletcher.  1911

I’ll Have A New Life

1 Corinthians 15:52-54  In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. [

53] For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

[54] So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

“At the last trump, the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”

Can’t wait

On the resurrection morning  —  When all the dead in Christ shall rise  —  I'll have a new body,  —  Praise the Lord, I'll have a new life.  —  Sewed in weakness, raised in power  —  Ready to live in Paradise,  —  I'll have a new body,  —  Praise the Lord, I'll have a new life.

CHORUS:

I'll have a new home of life eternal  —  Where the redeemed of God shall stand.  —  There'll be no more sorrow,  —  No more pain, there'll be no more strife.  —  Raised in the likeness of my Savior  —  Ready to live in Glory Land.  —  I'll have a new body,  —  Praise the Lord, I'll have a new life.

What a hallelujah morning when the  —  last trump of God shall sound.  —  I'll have a new body,  —  Praise the Lord, I'll have a new life.   —  Graves all bursting saints all shouting  —  Heavenly beauty all around.  —  I'll have a new body,  —  Praise the Lord, I'll have a new life.

Victory in Jesus

1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

We are born children of God by faith in Jesus Christ, and faith is the only way in which you and I will be able to overcome this world around us.

1 Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Victory in Jesus

I heard an old, old story, — How a Savior came from glory,— How He gave His life on Calvary  —   To save a wretch like me;  —   I heard about His groaning,  —   Of His precious blood’s atoning,  —   Then I repented of my sins  —   And won the victory.

CHORUS:

O victory in Jesus,  —   My Savior, forever.  —   He sought me and bought me  —   With His redeeming blood;  —   He loved me ere I knew Him  —   And all my love is due Him,  —   He plunged me to victory,  —   Beneath the cleansing flood.

I heard about His healing,  —   Of His cleansing pow’r revealing.  —   How He made the lame to walk again  —   And caused the blind to see;  —   And then I cried, “Dear Jesus,  —   Come and heal my broken spirit,”  —   And somehow Jesus came and bro’t  —   To me the victory.

I heard about a mansion — He has built for me in glory. — and I heard about the streets of gold — Beyond the crystal sea; — About the angels singing, —  And the old redemption story,  —

And some sweet day I’ll sing up there  —   The song of victory.

Footsteps of Jesus

1 Peter 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

Jesus suffering at Calvary for our redemption is not an example for us. Believers cannot imitate it.

But, He did leave us an example.

In Nazareth during His first thirty years He suffered ridicule and misunderstanding.

Then, when He moved out in a public ministry, the gospel records tell us how He suffered for righteousness’ sake.

When you and I suffer for our faith, we remember the example He left for us in that connection.

Sweetly, Lord, have we heard Thee calling,   —   “Come, follow Me!” — And we see where Thy footprints falling — Lead us to Thee.

CHORUS:

Footprints of Jesus, — That make the pathway glow; — We will follow the steps of Jesus — Where’er they go.

Though they lead o’er the cold, dark mountains,   —   Seeking His sheep; — Or along by Siloam’s fountains, — Helping the weak.

If they lead through the temple holy,   —   Preaching the Word;   —   Or in homes of the poor and lowly,   —   Serving the Lord.

Then, at last, when on high He sees us,   —   Our journey done,   —   We will rest where the steps of Jesus   —   End at His throne.

I Believe in a Hill Called Mount Calvary

Galatians 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

Between Paul and the world there was a cross.

That should be the position of every believer today.

That will have more to do with shaping your conduct than anything else.

You will just glory in the Cross and the One who died there.

I Believe in a Hill Called Mount Calvary

There are things as we travel this earth's shifting sands  —   That transcend all the reason of man.  —   But the things that matter the most in this world,  —   They can never be held in our hand.

CHORUS:

I believe in a hill called mount Calvary.  —   I believe whatever the cost.  —   And when time has surrendered and earth is no more  —    I'll still cling to the old rugged cross.

I believe the Christ who was slain on the cross  —   has the power to change lives today.  —   For He changed me completely, a new life is mine.  —   That is why by the cross I will stay.

I believe that this life with it's great mysteries  —    Surely one day will come to an end.  —   But faith will conquer the darkness and death  —   And will lead me at last to my Friend.
