Think On These Things

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

How we think determines how we live our lives. As believers, we  are to see that our minds are in love with Jesus. Truth, honesty, justice, purity, lovely, and of good report are a picture of the Word of God.

If we fill our minds with the Words of God, there will be no room for evil or worry or fear. There will be no room for vengeance,  confusion and trouble. A mind filled with and led by the Word of God is a stable mind.

God Showed Up

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Just had to share Franklin Graham’s take on the election. Hundreds of thousands of Christians from across the nation have been praying for the future of America. Election results shocked political pundits and left them asking, “How did this happen?”  Graham gave the correct  answer. “God showed up.”

Not wanting to get political, I just want to praise God for His grace in answering prayers. This doesn’t mean our new president is righteous and perfect. Holy Scripture says God places leaders of nations. He used a pagan king to help Israel rebuild Jerusalem. We should always pray for our leaders, whoever they are.

To Be Present With The Lord

2 Corinthians 5:8  We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

The fact is, these bodies we wear are wearing out. Someone has said that you know you are aging when:
It takes you longer to rest up than it did to get tired.
Most of your dreams are re-runs.
Your mind signs contracts that your body can't keep.

I’d rather be absent from this body and present with the Lord. Many of my loved ones are already there. Trials, burdens and sin can’t enter that place---neither will death, tears, evil, sadness or grief.  My new home is being prepared in this perfect place. Only those Redeemed by the grace of God will be there.

Wisdom

James 1:5  If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Bright or dim, our future rests on the decisions we make. That’s why it’s crucial that we  ask the Lord for wisdom---wisdom in God's spiritual work.

God wants us to  arrive at the bright and hopeful future He has placed in front of us. Do you need wisdom that surpasses that of mere mortals? God is anxious to give it to you. Ask.

King Of Kings

Romans 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

Since the early days of earth, kings have risen to lay claim to this world. Each ruled for a time and then vanished away---Nimrod, David, Solomon, Nebuchadnezzar, Alexander the Great, Napoleon, Charlemagne, Hitler and others. They are all dead.

One day Jesus will come to earth. A  crown will be  placed on His head, and He will rule forever as King of kings and Lord of lords. Every knee will bow and every tongue confess Him. Until then the saints who are overwhelmed with the stench of this world should turn their eyes upon Jesus, away from pain and problems, and the world will fade to insignificance.

Thy Will Be Done

Matthew 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

When I pray, “Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven,” I’m asking the Lord to take my life and conform it to His word and His will, to do with it as He pleases. That’s a tall order but it’s the path to blessings.

I’m asking the Father to use me to make the earth a little more like Heaven. I’m praying for spiritual wisdom to learn His will, for a spiritual desire to do His will, and for spiritual strength to carry out His will. If God is truly my Heavenly Father and I want to hallow His great Name,  I will want to yield to His will in my life.

A New Creature

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

The Lord changes everything he touches. Give Him an Abram, a lost pagan, and He will give you back an Abraham, a mighty man of faith. Give Him your Saul of Tarsus, a mean, cruel man, and He will give you back a Paul, a mighty Apostle of God.

Give Him your broken, sin-scarred life and He will give you back a new start, a new life and a home in Heaven! When we think of what we were and what Jesus has made us, it ought to cause us to enjoy our salvation.
