The Solid Rock

Psalm 18:2  The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

David’s plan is to live for the Lord, love the Lord, and to lean on the Lord for everything he needs and does.

I think that is a worthy goal for every believer.

Our Lord Jesus Christ deserves nothing less, and nothing less will be blessed by the Lord.

When darkness veils His lovely face,    —    I rest on His unchanging grace;  —  In every high and stormy gale,  —  My anchor holds within the veil.

CHORUS:

On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;    —    All other ground is sinking sand,    —    All other ground is sinking sand.

His oath, His covenant, His blood    —    Support me in the whelming flood;  —  When all around my soul gives way,  —  He then is all my hope and stay.

When He shall come with trumpet sound,    —    Oh, may I then in Him be found;    —    Dressed in His righteousness alone,    —

Faultless to stand before the throne.

This World Is Not My Home

Hebrews 13:14  For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.

If all of our hopes are placed in this world, we will be disappointed more than we will be happy.

But the child of God can rejoice in the fact that this world is not the end all. There is something better to look forward to.

We can thank the Lord that when this journey is over we have a city awaiting us were we can rest from our labors and enjoy the sweet presence of the Lord.

We may know little about Heaven, but we do know that none of the problems of life will be allowed there, Rev. 21:4.

We do know that we will be with Jesus, John 14:1-3.

This World Is Not My Home

This world is not my home,   —  I'm just a passing through  —  My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue;    —    The angels beckon me from heaven's open door,    —    And I can't feel at home in this world anymore.

Chorus:

O Lord, you know I have no friend like you,  —  If heaven's not my home, then Lord what will I do?  —  The angels beckon me from heaven's open door,  —  And I can't feel at home in this world anymore.

They're all expecting me, — and that's one thing I know,  —  My Savior pardoned me and now I onward go;  —  I know He'll take me thro' tho' I am weak and poor,  —  And I can't feel at home in this world anymore.

I have a loving Savior up in glory-land,  —  I don't expect to stop until with Him I stand,  —  He's waiting now for me in heaven's open door,  —  And I can't feel at home in this world anymore.

Just up in glory-land we'll live eternally,  —  The saints on every hand are shouting victory,  —  Their songs of sweetest praise drift back from heaven's shore,    —    And I can't feel at home in this world anymore.

At Calvary

Luke 23:33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.

Jesus had been arrested, tried and convicted in a mock trial.

He was scourged, beaten, His beard pulled out,  crowned with thorns, and mocked.

He was nailed to a cross with 7 inch long — 3/8 inch in diameter nails through the median nerve which caused massive spasm to wrack His body.

You see, He died, but He rose again three days later, Matt. 28:1-6 and He lives forever to make salvation available to all who will come to Him by faith, Heb. 7:25; Rev. 1:18.

Why did Jesus submit to this horrendous treatment at Calvary?

It was to demonstrate His love, Rom. 5:8; —. To destroy sin – Heb. 9:26; —. To defeat Satan, 1 John 3:8. To offer salvation to all who believe.

He did it for you and me, 1 Cor. 15:3-4; Luke 22:20.

Years I spent in vanity and pride,    —   Caring not my Lord was crucified,    —   Knowing not it was for me He died    —   On Calvary.

Chorus:

Mercy there was great, and grace was free;    —   Pardon there was multiplied to me;    —   There my burdened soul found liberty    —   At Calvary.

By God’s Word at last my sin I learned;    —   Then I trembled at the law I’d spurned,    —   Till my guilty soul imploring turned    —   To Calvary.

Now I’ve giv’n to Jesus everything,    —   Now I gladly own Him as my King,    —   Now my raptured soul can only sing    —   Of Calvary!

Oh, the love that drew salvation’s plan!    —   Oh, the grace that brought it down to man!    —   Oh, the mighty gulf that God did span    —   At Calvary!

Rock Of Ages

Psalm 18:2  The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

When the world is being tossed and twisted, God forever remains the same. He is always stable (Heb. 13:8).

We don’t have to live in doubt, fear, and worry.

Stand firm on Christ the Solid Rock. .

Rock of ages, cleft for me    —    Let me hide myself in thee.    —    Let the water and the blood    —    From thy wounded side which flowed    —    Be of sin the double cure.    —    Save from wrath and make me pure.

Could my tears forever flow?    —    Could my zeal no languor know?  —  These for sin can not atone;  —  Thou must save and thou alone.    —    In my hand no price I bring,    —    Simply to thy cross I cling.

While I draw this fleeting breath.    —    When my eyes shall close in death.    —    When I rise to worlds unknown    —    And behold thee on thy throne.    —    Rock of ages, cleft for me.    —      Let me hide myself in thee.

The Lighthouse

John 12:46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

Jesus came to a world in spiritual darkness and opened the curtains of grace, revealing the truth of God to men and women wandering in darkness.

This light either causes men and women to repent of their sins and run to the opened arms of the Lord, or it cause them to reject the light and continue on their course of darkness.

One will lead to salvation, the other will lead to damnation (John 3:36).

I praise the Lord that this light reaches out to all — even me.

There's a lighthouse on the hillside    —   That over looks life's sea,    —  When I'm tossed it sends out a light    —   That I might see.  —   And the light that shines in darkness now  —  Will safely lead us o'er.  —  If it wasn't for the Lighthouse    —   My ship would be no more.

Chorus:

I thank God for the Lighthouse,  —  I owe my life to Him.  —  For Jesus is the Lighthouse, —  And from the rocks of sin  —  He has shown a light around me  —  That I could clearly see. —  If it wasn't for the Lighthouse (tell me)  —  Where would this ship be.

Everybody that lives around us —  Says tear that Lighthouse down. —  The big ships don't sail this way anymore. — There's no use of it standing ‘round. — Then my mind goes back to that stormy night  — When just in time I saw the light,  —  The light from that old lighthouse  —  That stands there on the hill.

God Leads Us Along

Psalm 23:3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

We don’t always like where the path of life leads us, but if we are following the Good Shepherd, we can be assured that He will lead us in the right path.

Psalm 37:23  The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.

God Leads Us Along

In shady, green pastures, so rich and so sweet,    —    God leads His dear children along;    —    Where the water’s cool flow bathes the weary one’s feet,    —    God leads His dear children along.

Chorus:

Some through the waters, some through the flood,    —    Some through the fire, but all through the blood;    —    Some through great sorrow, but God gives a song,    —    In the night season and all the day long.

Sometimes on the mount where the sun shines so bright,  —  God leads His dear children along;    —    Sometimes in the valley, in darkest of night,    —    God leads His dear children along.

Though sorrows befall us and Satan oppose,    —    God leads His dear children along;    —    Through grace we can conquer, defeat all our foes,    —    God leads His dear children along.

The Longer I Serve Him The Sweeter He

As we yield to Jesus, He will live through us, He will be glorified and His work will be done.

1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

2 Peter 3:18  But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

It seems the older I get, as I serve the Lord, I grow more in grace and I learn more about Jesus.

I’m sure the good Lord planned it that way because my aged body gets broken more often and He answers more of my prayers.

The Longer I Serve Him The Sweeter He Grows

_____________________________

Since I started for the Kingdom,    —   Since my life He controls,    —   Since I gave my heart to Jesus,    —   The longer I serve Him,    —   The sweeter He grows.

Chorus:

The longer serve Him, the sweeter He grows,    —   The more that I love Him, more love He bestows;    —   Each day is like heaven, my heart overflows,    —   The longer I serve Him, the sweeter He grows.

Ev'ry need He is supplying,  — Plenteous grace He bestows;    —   Ev'ry day my way gets brighter,  — The longer I serve Him,  — The sweeter He grows.
