When Believers Sin

Believers  are well aware of the boundaries God has set for us or they should be. We have the Word of God and the Spirit of God which teach us the will of God for our lives.

Problems arise when we choose to step over God's boundaries and go off into sin. The fact is, we all stumble, but none of us have to. We do it out of personal choice.

James 1:13-14  Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

In truth, it’s the mercy of God that all believers haven't been caught in our sins. Imagine for a moment that the Lord allowed every thought you’ve ever had to be played in full color and stereo for the world to see and hear. You say, but thoughts are different. Are they? To think it is a sin! To do it is merely another sin.

Jesus was always honest with sinners. He didn’t pretend  their sins did’t exist. Second, He always loved them and forgave them. Third, He always treated them with respect and love.

Power In The Blood

What happened that day when the Lord Jesus died on the cross at Calvary some 2,000 years ago? It altered the future for every person who places their faith in Christ Jesus.

You and I can’t begin to imagine the pain that Jesus was forced to endure for our sakes.  He  was Scourged – (Matt. 27:26), beaten – (Luke 22:63-64),  and spit  on – (Matt. 27:30}. His  beard  was plucked from His face –(Isa. 50:6). He was. mocked – (Matt. 27:26-29) and stripped naked – (Matt. 27:35), and nailed to the Cross – (Matt. 27:38; John 20:25).

The cross is God's statement of love to the world –(John 15:13). His blood has the power to change every life touched by it. There really is wonder working power in the blood of the Lamb.

Romans 5:8-10 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.  Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.  For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

Sweet Hour Of Prayer

Phil. 4:6-7  Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

If God loved us so much that He sent His Son to die for our sins then saved us by His grace and adopted us into His family,  our love for Him should manifest itself with a passionate desire to come into His presence.

God isn’t concerned about the posture of our body when we pray. He’s more interested in  the posture of our heart. Sometimes when I pray, I pause after “Heavenly Father” and drink in His glory, His greatness, and His wonder. What a privilege it is to pray to Almighty God in the Name of Jesus. It’s a sweet hour of prayer.

We have much to pray about.  I’m amazed at how the Lord answers my prayers, whether the need is great or small.

Just Passin' Through

Sometimes the ways of God are hard to understand, especially when He doesn't order life as we think it should be. But those who love the Lord the deepest are those who remember that God always knows best and He always does what is best for His children.

2 Corinthians 4:17-18  For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;  While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

The Apostle Paul tells us that our focus shouldn’t be on trials of this life but on the glory of the next. That doesn't mean that we don't hurt or won't have problems. It helps us to keep things in perspective. What you are facing today is temporal. We’re just passing through on the way to Heaven and Heaven is eternal.

Amazing Grace Is True

Grace is the underserved love and favor of God toward fallen man. That’s an awesome thought. It means that any sinner can be saved. Any storm can be weathered. Any situation can be faced. When we sing Amazing Grace, we’re telling the truth.

Titus 2:11-14  For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ;  Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Grace cleanses believers from sin by the blood of Jesus, delivering them eternally from the penalty of sin---- assuring them of Heaven when we die.

Grace will teach you how to live for Jesus, to avoid ungodliness and worldly lusts.  It teaches us to be righteous and love others,  I'm glad that God is patient with His children. That's just His grace.

The Power of The Word

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Scripture will put you to the test! It’s like a mirror, it reveals the true you. It teaches you how to fix what’s wrong, to repent and confess  sin.

The Word of God, if read, believed and lived out in your life will cause you to become more like Jesus. You won’t have to struggle to grow in the Lord---- you just will.

There are several tools God uses in maturing us for His glory.  Sometimes He uses adversity to shape us, sometimes chastisement, but the Bible is the primary tool He uses to develop His children.

Look Past The Pain To God

Job 19:25-26 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:  And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

In that moment when his world had crumbled to the ground at his feet, Job turned away from his problems, his pain and his ten dead children to look into the face of the God he loved more than his life, more than his wealth, and more than his family.

What Job did, the grace of God can enable each of us to do. If we could ever see past the pain of the moment and catch a glimpse of the One Who controls all things, we too would find ourselves humbled before Him in worship. If it ever dawned on us that maybe, just maybe, He knows what is best for us, it would change our perspective.
