Faith Rests In The Unseen

The Apostle Peter literally placed his life in the hands of Jesus as he stepped out of the boat to go to Him. He is the only man recorded in history who walked on water except the Lord. Peter’s act of faith required great courage.

Matthew 14:28-29 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.

Often we find ourselves dealing with situations that require great faith. Many times these situations require courage along with our faith.

Faith believes and rests in the unseen, trusting the Lord to make a way when it appears there is no way.

Hope For The Journey

Fleeing for his life, Elijah found himself in the wilderness having a pity party. This is coming from a man who has experienced the power of God like few others.  But God knew where to find him and sent an angel to minister to him.

1 Kings 19:7-8 And the angel of the Lord came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee. And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.

Wow! What a miracle!  Elijah’s faith had grown weak, and he even walked away from his calling. But God tenderly strengthened him physically and spiritually.

Sometimes our journey becomes too great. We may feel alone and hopeless, but God knows where we are and what we need.  If we've failed Him, he will tenderly forgive us when we ask. He will make us strong again with His power. God is faithful.

Strength In The Valley

If God has allowed a valley to come into your life, know that He is working in your life for His glory.

2 Corinthians 4:15-16 For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

The Lord was there before the valley,  He is in the valley, and He will be there after the valley to renew you day by day.

Regardless of how difficult things becomes, God has promised grace sufficient for whatever you face. Trust Him. The Apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthian Saints about being strong in valley.

2 Corinthians 12:9   And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Christ Working In Us

Too many Christians think that conversion is the only important experience and that nothing follows. Wrong. After conversion, a life-changing work of Christ begins, ever making us like Him.

Philippians 2:13  For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

By feeding on the Word of God and fervent prayer (Eph. 3:20-21), the Lord Jesus equips us to walk upright for His glory. Should His good pleasure permit suffering (1 Peter 4:11-14), we get back in the Word and pray more, and the cycle is repeated.

Believers are the workmanship of Christ until we become like Him. Then will we see Him.

Health For The Soul

The Holy Bible is health for the soul, food for the journey, strength for the battle, light for the darkness, and hope for every tomorrow.

2 Tim. 3:16-17, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”

Thank God for His Word. In this book ---
God stoops to speak to fallen man.
God reveals Himself to men and women.
God gives us His Gospel, the only plan of salvation.

Psa. 30:5, “Every word of God is pure...”

Search the scriptures. Meditate on them and obey them.

God Will Take Care Of You

As she prepares their last meal before starving, the Gentile widow doesn’t realize how sick her son is or that a prophet is coming for supper or that she is trapped in sin and needs a Savior.

But God -- in His grace --  speaks to her heart about using the last of her meal and oil to make bread for his prophet Elijah.

1 Kings 17:14  For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth.

Regardless of her fears and doubts, she obeyed God. The meal and oil increased each time she cooked supper. Her son died, but Elijah prayed for Him and he came back alive. The Lord speaks of her great faith in Luke 4:25, 26.

If, like this widow, you are in a relationship with God, you have His promise that He will take care of you no matter what you face.

He will give you grace for everything that comes your way - 2 Cor. 12:9
He will meet every need that arises in your life - Matt. 6:25-34; Phil. 4:19
He will walk with you every step of the way - Heb. 13:5; Matt. 28:20
He will see you safely through the dangers that come against you - Isa. 43:2
He will carry you when you can no longer walk - Deut. 33:27
He will use every pain, problem and pit of life to develop you and to make you more like Jesus - Rom. 8:28-29

The Right Words

Whether Jesus was at a wedding, a funeral, the bedside of an invalid or a deathbed, He always had the right words to say:

To Martha it was “Thy brother shall rise again.”
To Lazarus it was “Come forth.”
To the leper it was “I will, be thou clean.”
To the demons is was “Come out of him.”
To the winds and waves it was “Peace, be still.”
To the lame man it was “Rise and walk.”
To the dying thief it was “Today shalt thou be with Me in paradise.”
To the crowds that crucified Him it was “Father forgive them, they know not what they do.”
To the disciples it was “I will not leave you comfortless, I will come to you.”
To the Father it was “It is finished.”
To a lost world it is “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

I'm glad Jesus is still calling sinners. He is still raising dead men to life. He is still speaking peace to troubled souls.

If you don’t know Him, ask Him to come into your heart, to forgive your sins and to be your Savior.
