The Heavy Burden Pit

Sometimes life jumps on us with both feet, and we find ourselves in the heavy burden pit. God has a word of encouragement and instruction for us.

1 Peter 5:6-7 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

We don’t have to bear our burdens alone. Thank God, there is One Who is stronger than we are, and He is willing to carry our load. All of it. Give it all to Jesus.

Is your life in the heavy burden pit right now? If so, there is a way out. Ask yourself the following questions and be honest:

—- Am I surrendering my will to God?

—- Am I sending my worries to God?

—- Am I strengthening my walk with God through Bible reading and prayer?

—- Am I seeing the work of God?

If the answer to any of these questions is no, come to Jesus and get that area of your life straightened out.

There is peace in Jesus. There is power in Jesus. You can get you life our of the heavy burden pit if you will do it God's way. Believe it.

Call On The Lord

Believers are privileged because they are in a personal relationship with the God of miracles.

God's people are different because they serve a living God, not a dead god. They serve a God who is mighty in power and able to do anything.

Jeremiah 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

When the saints of God call on His name in the dark day of trials and troubles, Heaven begins to come to their aid.

We have a God who is able to hear and is able to answer his children.

Isaiah 65:24 And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

The Love Of God

Isaiah 43:4 Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.

God tells Israel how much He loves them and that He will keep them safe. He will take care of them.

How much does God love believers today? I can tell you this for sure. We were of such value to God that He “gave” His Son to redeem us from our sins, John 3:16.

So, I know God loves me, and I’m humbled by His love when I come before Him in prayer. But I feel so unworthy.

I read that we are precious to Him — precious to the Almighty Creator. Why?

Romans 5:8-9 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

“Why did He go to Calvary? — Why was His life’s blood shed for me? — Why did He suffer as no man has ever done? — There’s just one reason – I am the one.

“He loves me. He loves me. — Jesus loves me.  — He loves me. He loves me. — Jesus loves me.

“When I’m sad, He loves me. —  Even when I’m bad, He loves me. — When it seems no one cares for me, — I talk to Jesus.  He loves me.” — George Amon Webster

Good And Bad Days

When Israel arrived at Marah, they seemed to forget all the wonderful things God had done for them — the plagues, their deliverance, the miracle at the Red Sea.

They forgot that up until that time the Lord had been in absolute control — the Master of life, good times and bad.

It’s easy to take the Lord's blessings for granted until trouble spins our happy days to worrisome days.

We may wring our hands in defeat, forgetting that the same God in control of the good days is still in control of the bad days. He is in charge of all of life - Rom. 8:28.

The Lord uses the good and the bad times of our lives to shape us in His image.

Ephesians 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

Amazing Grace

David was waiting on the Lord to deliver him from his terrible circumstances.  He was unable to help himself, so he was forced to wait on the Lord. He writes about God’s rescue.

Psalm 40:2-3 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.  And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.

If a legalist came by and saw a sinner in a pit, he would preach a sermon about the dangers of the pit.

If a religionist saw that same sinner in that pit, he would talk about steps the sinner could take to help him get out of that pit and avoid other pits in the future.

If a pessimist walked by, he would tell that sinner that he is going to die in that pit.

If an optimist passed by, he would tell the sinner that he had seen worse pits than that.

If a realist walked by, he would tell that man to just accept his pit.

If a spiritualist came by, he would tell the sinner that there is no pit.

But, if Jesus came by, He would get into the pit with that sinner and lift him out.

That’s what Jesus did for each believer.  He came in human flesh, entered the pit of this world and died for us on the cross, Phil. 2:5-8.

His death is proof of His love, Rom. 5:8; John 15:13.  His saving touch is proof of His grace, Eph. 2:8-9.

This is why many believers sing “Amazing Grace”.

If It Had Not Been

When I’m abundantly blessed by a song playing in the car on the way home from Waffle House, I just have to share the blessing. I hope it blesses you too. If you’ve known Jesus very long,  perhaps it will.

“If It had not been for the Lord on my side, tell me, where would I be? Where would I be?

“He kept my enemies away. He let the sun shine through a cloudy day. He wrapped me in the cradle of His arms when He knew I'd been battered and torn.

“So, If It had not been for the Lord on my side, tell me, where would I be? Where would I be?

“He never left me all alone, He gave me peace and joy I've never known. He answered when I knelt to pray, And In victory the Lord brought me this way,

“So, If It had not been for the Lord on my side, tell me, where would I be? Where would I be?”  —  Margaret Douroux

Jesus is the best thing that ever happened to me.

Loving God — Loving Each Other

As redeemed children of our Heavenly Father, we are empowered to be like Him --- to be holy, loving, forgiving, truthful, patient, kind, and compassionate.

Ephesians 5:1-2 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour.

We need to allow the Holy Spirit to teach us the ways of God — how to love each other.

The Lord will show us as we study the Bible, pray, listen to sermons, and experience faith-victories in our lives.

The greatest expression of love the world has ever witnessed was the love that sent Jesus to Calvary's cruel cross to die for our sins.

When I love Jesus, I’ll be like Him. When I am like Him I will love others as He loves them.\
