Good News

Every deceased leader and founder of every major religion in this world is in a tomb somewhere. But you can search every tomb in Israel and you will never find the bones or the dust of the Lord Jesus.

The exciting news that Jesus is alive is news we need to hear and share again and again. It’s news that should cause rejoicing.

Proverbs 25:25 As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.

Somewhere along the way we heard the glorious news that Jesus is alive. That news gives us hope today. The hope of His resurrection should fill our hearts with joy!

Our Jesus is alive! Hallelujah

Trust And Obey

The Lord will help us learn to do the things that please Him. There is a special promise to those who keep His Word because they love Him.

John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

As we trust and obey the Lord, we will see His beauty, His fulness, His grace and righteousness, His power, and His glory.

Since our works reveal so much about our lives and our love for the Lord, perhaps we need to take inventory and see how our works stack up to the Lord's will.

Psalm 139:23-24 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Promises To The Children

God has made some tremendous promises to His born again children. We don’t have to live in defeat.

— We are no longer slaves to sin, the flesh and the devil. —-  “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace,” Rom. 6:14.

— We have been made “new creatures” in Jesus Christ. —- “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new,” 2 Cor. 5:17.

— We have been given the “divine nature”. —-  “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust,” 2 Pet. 2:4.

— We are indwelled by the Holy Spirit, Who teaches us about the dangers of sin and about the blessings of holiness. —- “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth...John 16:13.

— God has promised the victory to His children. —- “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ,” 1 Cor. 15:57.

Just A Little Faith

I’ve said a few weak prayers while wearing a flimsy hospital gown with an IV stuck in my arm and being pushed down a long hallway on a gurney to surgery. God always came through. Always.

I’ve said some less important prayers, like asking for a good parking place and a motor cart at Walmart. God came through. He knows my need.

God came through a few years ago when we thought Gale would have to be on dialysis the rest of his life, but it was only five months.

Again and again I’ve witnessed the amazing power of God, and I’ve learned that there is no limit to the potential of prayer.

Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Our doubts and weaknesses, when sowed with a little faith, can reap a harvest of glory in our lives - Mark 9:14-29.

Affliction And Faith

Having been in Egypt 400 years, the Israelites found themselves enduring intense suffering and affliction. They cried out to God and He sent Moses, an eighty year old fugitive, to deliver them from slavery.

The many miracles would remove all doubt about God’s presence with His people — that He was working on their behalf.

But Pharaoh increased their burdens, and then they turned on Moses.  Moses turned to the Lord, and God gave him words of Heavenly comfort.

Exodus 6:6 Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments:

God used the afflictions of Israel to bring them closer to Him. They saw His power, experienced His peace, and knew His presence

The Lord will use our trials to draw us closer to Him, too. He wants intimacy with His people. The trials of life are designed to drive us into His arms — not to hurt us, but to develop us to be used for His glory.

Great faith is shaped from affliction.  How will you know He can unless He has to.

Praise

Psalm 146:2 While I live will I praise the Lord: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.

From an earthly perspective, there are times when it’s hard to find a reason to praise the Lord — though there are many reasons.

But when we exchange the earthly for the heavenly and stand perfected in the presence of the Lord in glory — we will have more reason to exalt His Name.

As the endless expanse of eternity unfolds before our eyes, we will forever lift our voices in praise to the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.

God will forever be God.  He will forever reign. He will forever be worthy of our praise.

Psalm 146:10 The Lord shall reign for ever, even thy God, O Zion, unto all generations. Praise ye the Lord.

God’s promises will forever stand. Praise Him for He is worthy.

A Little Talk With Jesus

We sang an old gospel song many years ago — “Have A Little Talk With Jesus”.

Of course, the more time you talk with Jesus, the more you begin to think like Him.

After a while, you only ask for those things that you know will glorify Him. So, communion with God brings closeness to God and that’s His number one desire for your life.

“I may have doubts and fears, my eyes be filled with tears —- But Jesus is a friend who watches day and and night. —- I go to him in prayer, He knows my every care —- And just a little talk with Jesus makes it right.“ — by Cleavant Derrocks

1 Peter 3:12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

Seek the Lord and seek Him often. Nothing will develop your life anymore than prayer.
