Rest For The Weary

Henry David Thoreau said, “Most men lead lives of quiet desperation.” Many are troubled and agitated in their souls and try to find rest in all the wrong places.
They look, run, seek, struggle, strive, fight, and love to find what only Jesus can give.

Simply and  calmly, Jesus invites the weary to rest.

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

I know that place of rest—a place of quietness and peace with Jesus. Seek Him.

The Holy Bible

The Holy Bible is God-breathed, infallible, and absolutely perfect.

The successful Christian loves it and lives it, finding in its pages all he or she needs to grow and prosper for Jesus.

Psalm 1:1-2 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

The Word of God is—-

  • Light – Psa. 119:105
  • Truth – John 17:17
  • A Mirror – James 1:23-25
  • Water – Eph. 5:25-27
  • It Cleanses – Eph. 5:26
  • It Quenches – John 4:13-14
  • It Refreshes – Psa. 119:150
  • It is a Seed – 1 Pet. 1:23
  • It is a Sword – Heb. 4:12; Eph. 6:17
  • It is a Hammer – Jer. 23:29
  • It can Build Up – Pro. 16:24
  • It can Tear Down – Rev. 2:16; 19:15, 21
  • It is a Fire – Jer. 20:9; Luke 24:32

Does the Bible fill your thoughts? Do you find yourself consumed with its content and mesmerized in the meditation of it?

The Bible is never better than when it is read and lived out.

The Comfort Of The Father

The church at Corinth faced immorality everywhere they looked. Even the church was viewed as out of touch.
The Apostle Paul reminds them that God is aware of their needs.

2 Corinthians 1:3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;

He says the Father of mercies shows pity and compassion for the suffering of others.

It’s interesting to note that Paul didn’t refer to the Lord as the God of mercies, but the Father of mercies.

This reveals his loving, tender care for His children.

The comfort of the Lord consoles and relieves, but it also strengthens at the same time.

If you are struggling today and feel as if you can’t go on, come to the Father  and find the comfort and help you need.

It Is I—Be Not Afraid

Although the disciples were separated physically from Jesus,
they were never beyond His watchful eye.

We are never beyond the watchful eye of our Lord. He is continually
aware of where we are, what we face and the many needs we have.

Mark 6:49-50 But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they
supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out: For they all saw him,
and were troubled.  . . .And immediately he talked with them, and
saith unto them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.

There’s nothing like a comforting word from the Lord when we are
in the midst of a trial—“Be of good cheer. It is I; be not afraid.”

In times of desperation it’s easy to focus on our trial, unaware
that Jesus has His eye on us.

Comfort often comes through His Word, a sermon or prayer
or sometimes a friend.

Walking on the water frightened the disciples until Jesus stepped
into their boat and the wind ceased. Immediately they experienced
a great calm.

Are you filled with doubt and fear as you face a troublesome storm?
If so, look to Jesus. He is nearer than you realize. He wants to calm

your trial.

Jesus Loves Me

How precious it is to love God. Man may not return our love, but God loved us first,

1 John 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.

He loves us forever (Jeremiah 31:3).

We are blessed with heard and answered prayer—-the sinner's prayer and every one there after (Jer. 33:3; Psa. 40:1).

We all go through times of depression and distress (Job 14:1; Job 5:7).

Believers learn that God specializes in lifting the fallen and strengthening the weak  (2 Cor. 12:7-10).

Think about the times He has lifted and strengthened you.

Victory

Joshua receives a call to surrender to the authority of the Lord and realizes that only God is the power behind the victory that will come at Jericho.

Joshua 5:13-14 And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries? And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the Lord am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?

Our success and victory will never come from our own ability. God is not here to take sides in our battles, He’s here to take over.

He’s the One who is walking in victory even before our battle is fought. He’s the One who is in control of all our situations. Yield to the power of God in every area of your life. Trust Him for victory.

He’s Still Working On Me

On the path toward eternity believers are mere clay in the hands of the Heavenly Potter. He’s working on us now, and He has great plans for us in eternity.

Philippians 1:6  Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

So none of us have arrived yet. We are all still works in progress.

God saved us to make us like Jesus, and He will keep working on you and me until that level of perfection has been achieved.

Ephesians 4:12-13 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
