His Name Is Wonderful

When we first come to Jesus for salvation, we do so through prayer. When He saves our souls, we are thankful and we praise Him for all He has done for us.
As we grow in Jesus, read His Word and commune with Him in prayer, we come to know Him and appreciate Him even more. He becomes more precious to us as the days go by.

Our souls echo the words of the songwriter who penned these words:

“His name is Wonderful—His name is Wonderful—His name is WonderfuL—Jesus my Lord;

He is the mighty King—Master of everything—His name is Wonderful—Jesus, my Lord.

He's the great Shepherd—the Rock of all ages—Almighty God is He;

Bow down before Him—love and adore Him—His name is Wonderful—Jesus, my Lord.”                 —by Carman, Gloria Gaither and William J. Gaither

Jeremiah 31:3 The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

The Grace Of God

No one will get to Heaven and be able to brag about how they got there.
In Heaven every story will end the same. Blood bought sinners will point to the throne and say, "Right there sits the reason I’m here."

Our song throughout the ages will be an anthem to the grace of God saving the lost.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

What a difference Jesus makes.

Forever

God will forever be God.  He will forever reign.  He will forever be worthy of our praise.
Psalm 146:10 The Lord shall reign for ever, even thy God, O Zion, unto all generations. Praise ye the Lord .

His promises will forever stand. His people will be preserved forever.

As the endless expanse of eternity unfolds before our eyes, we will forever lift our voices in praise to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Today God is worthy of our love, our devotion, and our obedience. He is worthy of everything we can offer Him.

Yes, He is forever worthy of our praise.

Green Pastures And Still Waters

Psalm 23:2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
The Great Shepherd knows His sheep need the cool waters of His grace to make it through this world.

He knows we need places of stillness where we can rest and reflect on Him and His blessings.

He cares about the things we are facing, 1 Pet. 5:7, and He provides a place of peace and safety from them, Matt. 11:28

We don’t always like where the path of life leads us, but if we are following the Good Shepherd we can be assured that He will lead us in the right path, Psa. 37:23

The Rock That Shelters

David is as far away physically from God and His Tempe that he can get. He has been fleeing for His life, from His son Absalom. He cries out to God for help.
Psalm 61:2-3 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.

Have you ever been in an overwhelming situation where you feel helpless and need help from the Lord? Sin can produce that feeling but so can sorrow and suffering.

Thank God there is a Rock— a place of safety—a place of refuge where we can flee in times of trouble, sorrow and suffering.

There is a place where the storms can’t come, the winds can’t blow, and the waves can’t reach us.

There is a Rock and His name is Jesus. He is the only One who can help us, who can deliver us from our situation. Praise the Lord. Seek Him.

The Lord Is My Buckler (Shield)

Psalm 18:2 The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
The choir always met for practice at 7:30 PM on Tuesdays at the little church in Kansas. One particular Tuesday evening each of the 40+ choir members, including their leader, were somehow hindered from being there at 7:30.

One became ill, another had car trouble, another got a last minute phone call, etc.

On that Tuesday evening at 7:36 PM, gas that had been leaking from a ruptured gas line under the church exploded, totally demolishing the church. Had there been any one there, they would have ben killed, but thanks to the providence of God, they were all spared.

Only in Heaven will we fully comprehend the times when God in His providence has stepped between us — shielded us — from something awful that was coming our way.

A Stable Mind

We are told in the Bible that we need to fortify the mind. It’s our job, individually, and it can’t be passed to another.

If you want a stable, fixed mind, the only place to get it is in the Word of God. We are to take the initiative to prayerfully and force the mind to dwell on the Bible and what it says,

This is a critical matter, because how you think determines on how you will live your life,

Proverbs 4:23  Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

We are to see that our minds are in love with Jesus.

Matthew 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

Until the mind is settled, all of life is out of control.

James 1:8  A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

I challenge you to fortify your mind.  Stay in God’s Word.
