You don't have to be afraid.

I wouldn't let on to the kids, but I felt insecure the year Gale was overseas with the Air Force. Chris was in first grade and Penny was four. We had just moved to a rural area west of Little Rock.

One night while watching TV we heard noises outside the windows. Someone was out there. I started praying and assured Chris and Penny that God put an angel at our front door outside and nothing could harm us. I had to believe it and I think they did. We later learned it was some ornery boys in the neighborhood trying to scare us.
You don't have to be afraid of anything.

Psalm 91:4-7 He shall cover thee with His feathers and under his wings shalt thou trust; His trust shall be thy shield and buckler.

Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night nor for the arrow that flieth by day; nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

A thousand shall fall at thy side and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

Its important how you view God.

... Do you believe he is a figment of someone's imagination or the Creator? Do you view Him as your Heavenly Father?

In Isaiah we see His sovergnty. The seraphin angels cried one to another, holy, holy, holy -- honoring the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

After seeing God high and lifted up, Isaiah knew he was a sinner. He said, "I am undone, for I am a man of unclean lips and dwell with people of unclean lips." Isaiah had to have the proper view of God to have the proper view of himself. He repented. Repentance is important.

The angel brought a live coal and laid it on his lips, saying, "Iniquity is taken away, and thy sin is purged."  When you get the proper view of God and repent, He will forgive you, and only then can He use you.

Isaiah 6:8 Also, I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send and who will go for us? Then said I, "Here am I, send me."

How is your view of God? Have you accepted Christ as your personal Savior? Have you followed Him in baptism? Can He use you?

God has two kinds of attributes:

... absolute (what He is in Himself), and relative (how He relates to the world and men). One of His absolute attributes is love.

1 John 4:8 ... God is love.

When God relates that love to you and me, it becomes grace and mercy. God in his mercy does not give us what we deserve, and God in grace gives us what we do not deserve.

Romans 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

We are justified without a cause. There is no cause in us that would merit the salvation of God. It is all of grace.

The following song, decoupaged on a piece of wood and displayed on my lamp table, lauds my favorite hymn.

AMAZING GRACE by John Newton
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wrech like me.
I once was lost but now I'm found, was blind but now I see.

A few years ago while reading through the Bible,

...one chapter hooked me more so than the others. I read it again, and then set out to memorize it. The wonderful flesh and spirit chapter of Romans Eight shows that the Christian is completely victorious.

We are free from judgment because Christ died for us, and we have His righteousness.
We are free from defeat because Christ lives in us by His Spirit, and we share His life.
We are free from discouragement because Christ is coming for us and we will share His glory.

We are free from fear because Christ intercedes for us, and we can't be separated from His love.

No condemnation! No frustration! No separation!

Romans 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
