A Living Sacrifice

Along with our salvation, the Lord wants us to live sanctified lives, walking with Him and serving in ministry.

Romans 12:1-2  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Within ourselves this is impossible, but through the mercies and help of the Lord we can walk in submission to His divine will.

A living sacrifice remembers that we belong to God and that everything the body does is held to the guidelines of the Word of God.

A living sacrifice means a constant, continuous sacrifice, not something we do from time to time or ask for it back again.

We may fail now and then, but God is His love and mercy and grace will lift us up again when we turn to Him.

The Lord wants us to be His vessels through which He can live and work in this world.

He is worthy of our worship and service.

Promises

As we go through life, we encounter many promises. Some are kept and others are broken, but the promises of God are certain and sure. If God said it, you can believe it; His Word and His promises will never change. The most quoted promise from God is John 3:16.

John 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

All who believe in Christ---come to Him in repentance---are promised everlasting life. This is a powerful phrase. It literally means what it says to those who believe.

We shall never perish, be put away or rejected. We shall live forever in the presence of our blessed Lord and Savior.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

There are a lot of decisions that we make in life, but none are as important as the decision we make concerning Christ----to believe or not to believe. That decision will remain with us throughout eternity.

God Is Good

We praise The Lord because He is a “good” God. His goodness transcends time, places, people, and events.

Psalm 106:1 Praise ye the Lord. O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

•  He is good all the time, in the face of every event in life.
•  He is good on the mountain, and He is good in the valley.
•  He is good in the day of blessing, and He is good in the day of pain.
•  He is good in peace, and He is good in turmoil.
•  He is good in life, and He is good in death.
•  He is good in rejoicing, and He is good in weeping.
•  He is good in shouting, and He is good in sorrow.
•  He is good in plenty, and He is good in poverty.
•  He is good  in health, and He is good in sickness.
•  He is good when I can see Him, and He is good when I can’t.
•  He is unchanging, immoveable, undaunted, and unfazed, Mal. 3:6; Heb. 13:8. The plans of the wicked do not challenge Him. He controls it all, sees it all, wills it all, and does it all.

The Triumphant Resurrection

Imagine the agony of the faithful women at the foot of the cross as they observe their Savior---His suffering, His blood, the anguish in His words, His last breath, the temple curtain ripped from top to bottom, the darkness, the earthquake.

Come Sunday they will take spices to anoint His body.

“He is not here, but is risen” has to be one of the most profound statements in all of Scripture.

Luke 24:5-6 And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,

I’m glad we don't serve the memory or honor of one who lived and done great things. Praise God, believers serve One who conquered death, sin, and hell and He rose from the grave in victory.

Jesus died so people might be forgiven of sin. His triumphant resurrection provides eternal life for all those who come to Him by faith.

The Lord Is My Shepherd

I’m glad I know Jesus, but even more, I’m glad Jesus knows me. He says our relationship is like that of a good Shepherd and His sheep, then He speaks of the intamicy between His Father and Him.

In the face of death---awaiting the righteous judgment of His Father for our sins---Jesus never wavered, but willingly laid down His life for His sheep. We can thank the Lord for our Salvation.

John 10:14-15  I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.

We are never beyond the watchful care of our Shepherd. That gives me assurance and peace.

When I think I can make it by myself in this muddled world, I’m reminded that “The Lord is my Shepherd”, and I can do nothing without Him.

"The Lord is my Shepherd. I shall not want."

The Beauty Of Jesus

The beauty of Jesus is not how he looked when he came to earth or how artists tend to paint him, but His real beauty is found in His awesome love and perfect sacrifice on the cross for sinners.

When Jesus returns to gather His people to Himself, we will see Him as He is---the believer’s exalted Lord and Savior.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Throughout eternity we will see the scars of Jesus, received at the cruel crucifixion----the holes in His hands and feet, the wounds on His back and side, and punctures in His head from a thorny crown.

We can spend days talking about the beauty of Jesus and what He means to those who know Him. But when we sum it up we will have to say that He is altogether lovely.

Have you given Him the exalted place He deserves in your life?

The Good Grace Of God

Our entire being is a result of the good grace of God.

Romans 11:36  For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

In and of ourselves we have nothing to boast of. God is the source of every blessing we enjoy and should be the sole object of our worship.

Had Christ not been willing to bear our sin on the cross, dying in our place, we would yet be separated from God and condemned in sin.

May we never forget the abundant mercies and grace of our Lord.

He has done for us what no other could, providing for our redemption and reconciliation through Christ.
