Keep Me Safe ‘Til The Storm Passes By

Whether we know it or not, whether we live it or not, or whether we accept it or not; God's people are a victorious people!

We don’t have to live defeated and discouraged lives.

Remember this when the storms of life seem to knock you down.

Isaiah 25:4 For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a     strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the     storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the        terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.

Keep me safe ‘till the storm passes by.

“In the dark of the midnight have I oft hid my face,    While the storm howls           above me, and there's no hiding place.  Mid the crash of the thunder Precious       Lord, hear my cry.    Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

Chorus
“Till the storm passes over,  —  till the thunder sounds no more,  —  Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;  —  Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand.  —  Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

“Many times Satan whispers, "There is no need to try,  —  For there's no end of sorrow,  —  there's no hope by and by."  —  But I know Thou art with me, and tomorrow I'll rise —  Where the storms never darken the skies.

“When the long night has ended and the storms come no more,  —  Let me stand in Thy presence on that bright peaceful shore.  —  In that land where the tempest, never comes, Lord, may I. —  Dwell with Thee when the storm passes by.”

My Sheep Know My Voice

Psalm 23:2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

The Good Shepherd leads us into the green pastures of His Word, allows us to graze on the riches contained therein, and shelters us while we rest in the riches of His grace.

Psalm 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

When our hearts are frightened, we can know that Jesus the Great Shepherd is leading us, and He is in absolute control of the path we trod.

Knowing this, we have assurance that we can pass through the valley of the shadow of death in peace and security, Psa. 37:23.

John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

______________________________

“My sheep hear My voice, and the path that I take,  —  They follow wherever I go;  —  My sheep know My voice and come at my call,  —  But a stranger’s voice do they not know.

Chorus
“My sheep know My voice, and day by day. —  They abide in the fold and go not astray,  —  They love Me because I have made them my choice,  —  And they follow My call   —  for My sheep know My voice.

“My sheep know My voice, and the pastures of green,  —  Where I lead them so often to feed;  —  My sheep know My voice and the cool sparkling stream. —  Where beside its still waters I lead.

“My sheep know My voice, and the valley of death. —  Through which I shall lead them some day;  —  But no danger nor harm can touch one of them,  —  For I will be with them alway.”

He Keeps Me Singing

Psalm 40:3  And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.

When this Psalm began, David was talking about crying.

Now, he has been delivered and his shout of fear has been replaced by a song of joy.

When the Lord delivered us from the pit of sin, He changed us inside.

Where before there was darkness and hopelessness, now there is joy, light and peace.

This change in the heart of a believer will put a song on our lips.  Why? Because what’s in the heart will always work its way out of the mouth.

When a lost and dying world sees and hears what the Lord has done in our lives, it may be that the Holy Spirit will use our song to draw them to Jesus.

Jesus keeps me singing.

Chorus
“Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,  —  Sweetest Name I know,  —  Fills my every longing,  —  Keeps me singing as I go.”

“All my life was wrecked by sin and strife,  —  Discord filled my heart with pain.  —  Jesus swept across the broken strings,  —  Stirred the slumbering chords again.

“Feasting on the riches of His grace,  —  Resting ’neath His sheltering wing,  —  Always looking on His smiling face,  —  That is why I shout and sing.

“Though sometimes He leads through waters deep,  —  Trials fall across the way, —  Though sometimes the path seems rough and steep,  —  See His footprints all the way.

“Soon He’s coming back to welcome me,  —  Far beyond the starry sky;  —  I shall wing my flight to worlds unknown,  —  I shall reign with Him on high.”

Amazing God

Psalm 27:5  For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

It’s amazing that there is a place of solitude in a world filled with people

A place we can flee to during the crushing battles that rage about us.

A place that affords us quiet, peace and the profound presence of God.

Those who have learned to abide in Him have been to that place and know the glory of it.

“You want to hear the story of how I made it through,  —  When life is full of trouble, pain, and fear;  —  The answer may seem simple: though everything else crumbles,  —  One thing has remained through all the years.

Chorus
I still serve an amazing God,  —  He's been with me every mile my weary feet have trod;  —  He still cares, He still hears;  —  He's still mending broken hearts and drying tears;  —  This old world is about to change,  —  But I'm glad I know the One who always stays the same,  —  And my song will ever be,  —  Amazing God, You're still amazing me.

The God who parted waters still makes a way today,  —  He's always brought me through the troubled seas.  —  The One who fed the thousands,  —  whose words could calm the tempest,  —  He's my Bread of Life, and He's my Peace.

Chorus
I still serve an amazing God,  —  He's been with me every mile my weary feet have trod;  —  He still cares, He still hears;  —  He's still mending broken hearts and drying tears;  —  This old world is bound to change,  —  But I'm glad I know the One who always stays the same,  —  And my song will ever be,  —  Amazing God, You're still amazing me.”

The Solid Rock

Matthew 7:24-25 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

[25] And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

Two people in this parable heard Jesus share His message of faith and repentance, verses. 24, 26. One built on the Rock and the other on the sand.

The rock builder understood that Jesus died for his sin, rose from the dead, and had the power to save anyone who would believe on Him.

The sand builder believed he could pray a prayer, sign a card, join a church, and all will be well. He took the easy path.

The parable tells us that the rains came, the floods followed, and the winds of destruction blew.

This image is not just about some storms in life. This is the image of judgment.

In the end, both houses were subjected to a terrible storm of judgment. One house stood, the other was totally destroyed.

On Christ the solid Rock I stand!

but wholly lean on Jesus' name.

“When darkness veils his lovely face,  —  I rest on His unchanging grace.  —  In every high and stormy gale. —  my anchor holds within the veil.

Chorus
“On Christ the solid rock I stand;  —  All other ground is sinking sand.  —  All other ground is sinking sand’

“His oath, His covenant, His blood. —  support me in the whelming flood.  —  When all around my soul gives way,  —  He then is all my hope and stay.

“When He shall come with trumpet sound,  —  oh may I then in Him be found;  —  Dressed in His righteousness alone,  —  faultless to stand before the throne.

God Will Take Care Of You

Nahum 1:7 The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.

It’s easy for us to say, “The Lord is good” when life is going well, but it doesn’t change the fact that “The Lord is good” when times are bad.

The Lord is good all the time and in every way.

God knows His people. He knows your name. He knows where you are.

He knows what you face and all the details of your life. He even knows how many hairs are on your head.

He knows you intimately, comprehensively, and completely.

There is nothing about you, your life, or your situation that has escaped His attention.

The Lord is good and He will take care of you.

“Be not dismayed whate’er betide,  —  God will take care of you;  —  Beneath his wings of love abide,  —  God will take care of you.

Chorus
God will take care of you,  —  Through ev'ry day,  —  O’er all the way;  —  He will take care of you,  —  God will take care of you.

Through days of toil when heart doth fail,  —  God will take care of you;  —  When dangers fierce your path assail,  —  God will take care of you.

All you may need he will provide,  —  God will take care of you;  —  Nothing you ask will be denied,  —  God will take care of you.

No matter what may be the test,  —  God will take care of you;  —  Lean, weary one, upon his breast,  —  God will take care of you.”

No One Understands Like Jesus

Hebrews 4:15-16 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
[16] Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Because Jesus understands human experience and because He has successfully endured the full force of temptation, He is able to help us with whatever we face.

That’s why He invites us to run to Him in times of trouble.

Do you ever need help? Do you ever face trials that threaten to overwhelm you?

Do you ever go through temptations that appear to be beyond your power?

We have a Great High Priest. He is superior in every way.
He is sympathetic in every need. He is our sanctuary in every trial.

“No one understands like Jesus.  —  He's a friend beyond compare;  —  Meet Him at the throne of mercy;  —  He is waiting for you there.

“No one understands like Jesus;  —  Ev'ry woe He sees and feels;  —  Tenderly He whispers comfort,  —  And the broken heart He heals.

“No one understands like Jesus. —  When the foes of life assail;  —  You should never be discouraged;  —  Jesus cares and will not fail!

“No one understands like Jesus. —  When you falter on the way;
Tho' you fail Him, sadly fail Him,  —  He will pardon you today.

Chorus:
No one understands like Jesus. —  When the days are dark and grim;  —  No one is so near, so dear as Jesus--  —  Cast your ev'ry care on Him!”
