He Keeps Me Singing

When the Holy Spirit is in control of a life, He will fill that life with His joy.

When joy is given a voice, it always expresses itself in songs of praise to the glory of God.

Ephesians 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

A Spirit-filled Christian will be a singing Christian. Since the melodies come from your heart, you don’t have to have perfect pitch or harmonize.  You can sing to yourself for the glory of God.

He Keeps Me Singing

_____________________________

There’s within my heart a melody        Jesus whispers sweet and low,        Fear not, I am with thee, peace, be still,      In all of life’s ebb and flow.

Chorus:

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,Sweetest Name I know,    —    Fills my every longing,    —    Keeps me singing as I go.

All my life was wrecked by sin and strife,    —    Discord filled my heart with pain,    —    Jesus swept across the broken strings,    —    Stirred the slumb’ring chords again.

Feasting on the riches of His grace,    —    Resting ’neath His shelt’ring wing,    —    Always looking on His smiling face,    —    That is why I shout and sing.

Though sometimes He leads through waters deep,    —    Trials fall across the way,    —    Though sometimes the path seems rough and steep,    —    See His footprints all the way.

Soon He’s coming back to welcome me,    —    Far beyond the starry sky; —  I shall wing my flight to worlds unknown,  —  I shall reign with Him on high.

Oh, Say But I’m Glad

Psalm 126:3  The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.

Believers have every reason to be glad.

Oh that our hearts were filled with His praise, and that we would be quick to proclaim His goodness, His grace and His salvation.

Oh, Say But I’m Glad

_____________________________

There is a song in my heart today,    —    Something I never had;    —    Jesus has taken my sins away,    —    Oh, say, but I’m glad.

Chorus;

Oh, say, but I’m glad, I’m glad    —   Oh, say, but I’m glad,    —    Jesus has come and my cup’s overrun;    —    Oh, say, but I’m glad.

Wonderful, marvelous love He brings,    —    Into a heart that’s sad;    —    Through darkest tunnels the soul just sings,    —    Oh, say, but I’m glad.

We have a fellowship rich and sweet,    —    Tongues can never relate;    —    Abiding in Him, the soul’s Retreat    —    Oh, say, but it’s great.

Won’t you come to Him with all your care,    —    Weary and worn and sad?    —    You, too, will sing as His love you share,  —  Oh, say, but I’m glad.

Life’s Railway To Heaven

Hebrews 12:1-2  Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

[2] Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Anything that has more of us than Jesus has to go if we are to run  well the race set before us.

If it isn't dealt with it will cause us to become discouraged.

But God will help us conquer it if we are sincere and will trust Him with it.  He will give us victory.

Life is like a mountain railway   —    With an engineer that's brave.   —    We must make this run successful   —    From the cradle to the grave.   —    Watch the curves, the fills, and tunnels;   —    Never falter, never fail.   —    Keep your hand upon the throttle And your eyes upon the rail.

Chorus:

Blessed Savior, Thou will guide us   —    Till we reach that blissful shore,   —    Where the angels wait to join us   —    In Thy praise forevermore

You will roll up grades of trial.   —    You will cross the bridge of strife.   —    See that Christ is your Conductor   —    On this lightning train of life.   —    Always mindful of obstruction,   —

Do your duty, never fail.   —    Keep your hand upon the throttle And your eyes upon the rail.

As you roll across the trestle,   —    Spanning Jordan's swelling tide;   —    You behold the Union Depot   —    Into which your train will glide.   —    There you'll meet the Superintendent,   —    God the Father, God the Son.   —    With the hearty, joyous, plaudit,   —    Weary pilgrim, welcome home!

Victory In Jesus

1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

Our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ gives us the power to walk in victory over this world and all of its evil.

The true believer will love the saints, live out the Scriptures and leave this sinful world behind, (1 John 3:4-10).

1 Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

I heard an old, old story  —    How a Savior came from glory  —    How He gave His life on Calvary  —    To save a wretch like me  —    I heard about His groaning  —    Of His precious blood's atoning  —    Then I repented of my sins and won the victory.

Chorus

O victory in Jesus  —    My Savior, forever  —    He sought me and bought me  —    With His redeeming blood  —    He loved me ere I knew Him  —    And all my love is due Him  —    He plunged me to victory  —    Beneath the cleansing flood.

I heard about His healing  —    Of His cleansing pow'r revealing  —    How He made the lame to walk again  —    And caused the blind to see  —    And then I cried, "Dear Jesus  —    Come and heal my broken spirit,"  —    And somehow Jesus came and brought to me the victory.

I heard about a mansion  —    He has built for me in glory  —    And I heard about the streets of gold  —    Beyond the crystal sea  —    About the angels singing  —    And the old redemption story  —    And some sweet day I'll sing up there the song of victory

The Lily Of The Valley

Psalm 27:4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.

There are certain aspects of our relationship with Jesus that bring joy and comfort to our hearts.

Regardless of what we think or feel, Jesus loves us in spite of our flaws.  He knew us before He saved us, yet He saved us.

We can sing of the lofty doctrines of the faith, we can wax eloquent regarding the Word of God, but the most profound and sublime truth of them all is that Jesus loves us.

Song of Songs 2:1  I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys.

There is pain involved in retrieving the lily from among the thorns.  It cost Jesus much to buy us from our sins. (Isa. 52:14; Isa. 53:1-12.)

I have found a friend in Jesus, He’s everything to me,  —  He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul;   —    The Lily of the Valley, in Him alone I see   —    All I need to cleanse and make me fully whole.   —    In sorrow He’s my comfort, in trouble He’s my stay;   —    He tells me every care on Him to roll.

Chorus:

He’s the Lily of the Valley,    —    the Bright and Morning Star,   —

He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul.

He all my grief has taken, and all my sorrows borne;   —    In temptation He’s my strong and mighty Tow’r;   —    I have all for Him forsaken, and all my idols torn   —    From my heart and now He keeps me by His pow’r.   —    Though all the world forsake me, and Satan tempt me sore,   —    Through Jesus I shall safely reach the goal.

He will never, never leave me, nor yet forsake me here,   —    While I live by faith and do His blessed will;   —    A wall of fire about me, I’ve nothing now to fear,   —    From His manna He my hungry soul shall fill.   —    Then sweeping up to glory I’ll see His blessed face,   —    Where rivers of delight shall ever roll.

What A Friend We Have In Jesus

True friendship is a valuable and rare commodity.

When you have Jesus for your Friend you have discovered a friendship that knows no limits. He is the ultimate Friend, Pro. 18:24.

John 15:13-15  Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Jesus died for those He referred to as His "friends" while they were still His enemies, Rom. 8:7.

Thank God His love for us runs far deeper than we can comprehend.

[14] Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

[15] Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

What a friend we have in Jesus,    —    All our sins and griefs to bear!    —    What a privilege to carry    —    Everything to God in prayer!    —    Oh, what peace we often forfeit,    —    Oh, what needless pain we bear,    —    All because we do not carry    —    Everything to God in prayer.

Have we trials and temptations?    —    Is there trouble anywhere?    —    We should never be discouraged    —    Take it to the Lord in prayer.    —  Can we find a friend so faithful,  —  Who will all our sorrows share?    —    Jesus knows our every weakness;    —    Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy-laden,    —    Cumbered with a load of care?    —    Precious Savior, still our refuge    —   Take it to the Lord in prayer.    —   Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?  —  Take it to the Lord in prayer!    —    In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,    —    Thou wilt find a solace there.

Blessed Savior, Thou hast promised    —    Thou wilt all our burdens bear;    —    May we ever, Lord, be bringing    —    All to Thee in earnest prayer.    —    Soon in glory bright, unclouded,    —    There will be no need for prayer     —    Rapture, praise, and endless worship    —    Will be our sweet portion there.

My Faith Looks Up To Thee

2 Corinthians 5:7  For we walk by faith, not by sight:

We are told that we are to navigate this world “walking by faith.”

God allows us to pass through trials, tragedies, and traumas to prepare us for glory, to remake us into His perfect image, 2 Cor. 4:17; Rom. 8:18; Eph. 4:13-15.

My Faith Looks Up To Thee

My faith looks up to Thee,   —   Thou Lamb of Calvary,  —  Savior divine!   —   Now hear me while I pray,   —   Take all my guilt away,   —   Oh, let me from this day   —   Be wholly Thine!

May Thy rich grace impart  —  Strength to my fainting heart,  — My zeal inspire!   —   As Thou hast died for me,   —   Oh, may my love to Thee   —   Pure, warm, and changeless be,   —   A living fire!

While life’s dark maze I tread, — And griefs around me spread,  —   Be Thou my guide;   —   Bid darkness turn to day,  —  Wipe sorrow’s tears away,   —   Nor let me ever stray   —   From Thee aside.
