The Lordship Of God

You and I may not understand the leadership of the Lord in our lives, but I can assure you, that if you are His by salvation, He is working in your life every day.

Psalm 37:23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord : and he delighteth in his way.

It may seem like life is out of control, and it is out of your control, but it is never out of God’s control.

In the end you will be exactly where you are supposed to be.  You are precious to Him.

Ask For Wisdom

Spiritual work requires spiritual wisdom, and that spiritual wisdom is available to all who ask for it,

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”, James 1:5.

If I ever get to the place that I think I don’t need wisdom, I pray someone will whack me up the side of the head.

Whatever we do for the Lord, we need wisdom. Ask for it.

We need wisdom to keep peace in a family, raise children and to love others --  even our enemies. Ask for it.

God is anxious to give us wisdom.  He “Upbraideth not “ means He doesn’t criticize or find fault when we ask.

Ask for wisdom “and it shall be given him”

Saints And Trouble

Why does the Lord allow trouble in the lives of His saints?  The Apostle Peter was thrown into prison even though He was preaching Jesus and honoring God.

The church members called a prayer meeting, and God  busted him out. It was an amazing escape.

Acts 12:7-8 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands. And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

A godly life is not a hedge against trouble. Sometimes, the closer one lives to Jesus the more they suffer for Jesus (Job, David, Paul, and Elijah).

Why does the God allow trouble in the life of Christians? He might want to grow your faith or help someone else or simply glorify Himself.  He is greater than any need.

Faith To The End

Even though the end was near, Elijah still went on --  serving the Lord. In fact, it was as he was going on that the Lord sent that chariot of fire to get him and bring him to glory.

2 Kings 2:11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

What an exit!  Can you imagine seeing that?  What impresses me more is while Elijah waited on the whirlwind, he remained faithful and kept on serving the Lord like he was going to live another hundred years.

You never know when your number will come up.  May we resolve, like Elijah, that we will "still go on" – still be faithful, serving the Lord until He calls us to leave this world.

Let There Be Joy!

Poor Job. He  lost everything during his time of affliction -- his family, his finances, his fitness and his friends.  But he never lost his faith or his relationship with God.

There has never been a human life that was free from burdens and cares.

John 16:33. These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Troubles can either move us toward God or away. There’s joy when we permit God to transform sorrow into joy. There’s joy when God answers prayer. There’s joy when we overcome the world.
Let there be joy!

Take Your Need To Jesus

Don’t think for a minute that Jesus won’t understand you and your problem.

He has walked through loneliness, need, difficulty and death. He has been hated, loved, accepted and rejected. He knows what you’re going through and He cares.

The Lord throws open the door to His throne room and invites all who are in need to come to Him for help,

Matthew 11:28  Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Jesus can change what we face and how we face it. His power is beyond imagination.

1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Never Alone

I thank the Lord for His promises but to be honest, I don’t always live like I believe them. Maybe other saints feel the same at times, especially when life leads us to a place of fear.

Isaiah 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

This powerful “Fear Thou Not” promise is a jewel. No matter how we feel, God Himself promises to be with us. That's personal.

We used to sing a song entitled “Standing Somewhere In The Shadows You’ll Find Jesus”.  “He Was There All The Time” is another precious song.  Actually, I have never walked alone.

The next time you find yourself in the tunnel of despair, read Isaiah 40:10 and know for sure that God will strengthen you, help you, and uphold you – not in your strength – but with His right hand of righteousness, and that is wonder-working power.

Believe it. Then you can sing “Through It All, I learned to trust in Jesus”.
