Yesterday, Today, And Forever

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever.

Jesus is as loving, as merciful, as full of grace, as holy, as powerful, and as much in control as He has ever been. Praise Him.

The Lord will not change His precious promises. He has promised to save, supply’ and satisfy us. He has promised to secure and sustain us. Trust Him.

Whatever you face, Jesus will hug you through it. He hugged me through two bouts of cancer. I love Him.

Ps 90:2  Before the mountains were brought forth or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

Faith In God

If you will walk with your faith in God and will live your life to please Him, He will commit Himself to taking care of you.

How well David knew this. He was an old man who had seen the Lord allow him to sit on his enemy’s throne. He knew that serving God paid off.

Psalm 37:5. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

O how much God loves us. Even the darkest day can be endured because we know something better awaits us down the road.

Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

If you have never put your faith in God and would like to know Him, ask Jesus to forgive your sins and come into your heart.

Psalm 139:23-24 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Great Is Thy Faithfulness

God is faithful.  Here is what I mean.

—- Friends will fail, but God is faithful —- Jesus and Judas, John 6:70.

—- Funds will fail, but God is faithful —- The feeding of the 5,000. Luke 12:32.

—- Faith will fail, but God is faithful —- often our faith is overwhelmed by our doubts. In spite of that, God is faithful —- 2 Tim. 2:13.

Regardless of how life plays out, we have the confidence that our God is faithful and that He will stand by us even when our faith is weak.

Psalm 89:1   I will sing of the mercies of the Lord for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.

“Great is Thy faithfulness —— Great is Thy faithfulness. —— Morning by morning new mercies I see. —— All I have needed Thy hand hath provided. —— Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me.”

Mustard Seed Faith

Jesus rebukes a father for his doubting, and commands him to believe for the healing his son desperately needs.

Mark 9:23-24 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

This is one of the most honest and transparent prayers in the entire Bible. The father is saying, “Lord, I do believe in You and in Your power. But my faith is weak. Help me to grow in my faith.” Jesus answered His prayer.

It isn’t large faith that receives big answers from the Lord. It ‘s simply genuine faith that sees Him move in great power — even faith as small as a mustard seed.

Matthew 17:20, And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Do you have a need? Only believe.

Where To Get Help

When trouble comes, and it will, where can we turn for help? The Psalmist answers his own question by reminding us that the Lord is our help.

Psalm 121:1-3 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.

He knew that the real source of his help was Almighty God. He isn’t referring to a friend or an ally but to the Creator of the universe.

If God can make this world, then surely He has the power to take care of us.

God knows how easy it is for us to slip into sin and into discouragement. We must remember that He is ever with us and has promised to help us with his presence and power, Heb. 13:5; Matt. 28:20; Rom. 8:31; Heb. 7:25

Meditation

The heart and goal of meditation is the discovery of truth. As we meditate on the Word of God we will discover more about Him.

You may call it a quiet time or you may refer to it as a devotion, but the goal should be the same.

Getting into God’s Word fills our minds with His glory and this will naturally overflow in genuine worship of the Lord.

Set aside a time to be alone with God. Meditate on His truth and talk to him in prayer.

Psalm 1:1-2 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

The Peace Of God

There are three basic types of peace mentioned in the Bible

— The peace of God that comes with salvation, Rom. 5:1.

— The peace of God that come through total surrender to God in all things, Phil. 4:6-7; John 14:1, 27.

— The peace on earth that will come when Jesus Christ comes back to reign in glory and power, Isa. 2:1-4.

The peace of God that comes with total surrender to God in all things is the peace of God in times of trouble.

It’s the peace of God that overwhelms our worries and that helps us to rest in the will of God even when we can’t see what lies ahead.

Philippians 4:6-7 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
