Lord Of Lords

Psalm 136:2-3 O give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever. [3] O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth for ever.

God is good. In all that He does and all that He is His goodness is revealed in His mercy.

This is the Old Testament equivalent to grace. It is God’s grace, above all, that touches the heart of man and propels him to praise Him.

When we turn to the last page of the book of prophecy, we see One who still stands.

When the dust settles, the Lord Jesus will still be who He has always been - The Lord of Lords - Rev. 17:14.

Revelation 17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

I Know My Redeemer Lives

What Job faced was his worst-case scenario. He lost it all. What he endured was horrible, but what he learned was priceless.

Scratching boils, grieving the loss of his children and his wealth, he begins to look beyond his dilemma to some things he can rejoice in.

Job 19:25-26 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:

[26] And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

I don’t know a lot of things, but — like Job — I’m glad I know that my Redeemer lives and that I will see Him some day.

I find comfort, hope and strength in the thought of it.

When life is rough and you feel defeated, there are some sure facts that can bring you
joy.

Something To Sing About

God blessed David, protected him, and sustained him because God loved him and took pleasure in their relationship. David wrote about it.

2 Samuel 22:20 He brought me forth also into a large place: he delivered me, because he delighted in me.

God will move heaven and earth to meet the need of His child. Here are a couple of His promise to us.

Luke 12:32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

The thought that the God of the universe would condescend to bless us just because He takes pleasure in us is a thought too profound for the mind to grasp.

Think about God taking pleasure in us, working on our behalf, moving mountains, and meeting needs just because we delight Him!

That’s something worth singing about.

“There's within my heart a melody — Jesus whispers sweet and low, — Fear not, I am with thee, peace, be still, — In all of life's ebb and flow.

“Jesus, Jesus, Jesus! — Sweetest Name I know, — Fills my every longing, — Keeps me singing as I go.”  — Luther Bridgers

Walk With Faith

Walk by faith and not by sight. Things are never as they appear.

Sometimes God's way is hard to understand. These are the times we learn to trust Him anyway.

Psalm 37:3 Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

God expects His people to live a life that honors His name, then we will see Him bless us in great ways.

Even when things look bad, God is still working out His eternal purposes in us, Rom. 8:28.

If we will walk with faith in God and live life to please Him, He will commit Himself to taking care of us - Phil. 4:19.

A Great Calm

Storms like this didn’t usually occur at night, so the disciples didn’t expect it on the Sea of Galilee.
But a storm is raging — their boat is rocking and reeling and filling with water — the waves crashing against their vessel, and Jesus is asleep. Doesn’t He care?

Mark 4:38-39 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?

[39] And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

The disciples learned that Jesus is in control of every puff of wind and every angry wave. He can lasso the winds and hog tie the storm. Where was their faith?

I am sure there have been times when our flesh has cried, “Lord, don’t you care about what is happening to me?

He cares! He cares more than you can imagine, Heb. 4:15-16. He cares and He is working in your situation, even though you might not see it now.

There is no storm on earth that Heaven cannot calm. There is no problem so great that Jesus cannot fix. Bring that storm to Him and watch Him deal with it!

God Delivers

The early church was blessed by dramatic growth, miracles, and determined leadership.  These things touched their world and made a difference.

What they gained, they gained out of trial and affliction. Some were killed.

Peter was thrown into prison, yet he was able to soundly sleep while bound with two chains between two soldiers as the church constantly prayed.

What a difference it makes when you know God is in control.

Acts 12:7-8 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

[8] And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

The Humor of this story is that the church praying for Peter’’s’ release refused to believe it when it happened. That’s just like us.

Isn’t it a delight when God delivers us from the trials of life? That’s His business. He always delivers. Believe it.
