Amazing Grace

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.

The grace of God is His favor bestowed on the unworthy and undeserving believer.

2 Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

it was obvious in Paul’s ministry that he was so physically weak that the Spirit of God was empowering him.

He said, My strength is made perfect in weakness.. I can certainly identify with Paul here.

God gives sufficient grace.

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound   —   That saved a wretch like me.   —   I once was lost, but now am found,   —   Was blind, but now I see.

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,  —  And grace my fears relieved.  —  How precious did that grace appear   —  The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares   —  I have already come;   —  'Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far   —  And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me   —  His word my hope secures;   —  He will my shield and portion be,   —  As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,  —   and mortal life shall cease,  —   I shall possess within the veil,   —  A life of joy and peace.

When we've been there ten thousand years   —  Bright shining as the sun,   —  We've no less days to sing God's praise   —  Than when we've first begun.

John Newton, 1725-1807

Joy Unspeakable

1 Peter 1:7-8 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

[8] Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

Loving Christ brings rejoicing to your heart. Are you a rejoicing Christian?

You are a child of the King, and you have an inheritance coming to you some day. How wonderful it is to be His child!

This is the secret of the Christian life. When we love Him, everything else falls into place.

 Joy Unspeakable

_______________________

I have found His grace is all complete, —   He supplieth every need; —   While I sit and learn at Jesus’ feet, —   I am free, yes, free indeed.

CHORUS:

It is joy unspeakable and full of glory, —   Full of glory, full of glory; —   It is joy unspeakable and full of glory, —   Oh, the half has never yet been told.

I have found the pleasure I once craved, —   It is joy and peace within; —   What a wondrous blessing, I am saved —   From the awful gulf of sin.

I have found that hope so bright and clear, —   Living in the realm of grace; —   Oh, the Savior’s presence is so near, —   I can see His smiling face.

I have found the joy no tongue can tell, —   How its waves of glory roll; —   It is like a great o’erflowing well, —   Springing up within my soul.

I Know Who Holds Tomorrow

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

When the Lord thinks about you and the great plans He has for your life, He does so with love.

No matter what you are facing or going through today, there is help and hope in the Lord Jesus.

He already has your future. Trust Him.  It’s good.

 I Know Who Holds Tomorrow

________________________________

I don’t know about tomorrow;   —   I just live from day to day. —   I don’t borrow from its sunshine   —   For its skies may turn to grey.  —  I don’t worry o’er the future,  —   For I know what Jesus said.   —   And today I’ll walk beside Him,   —   For He knows what lies ahead.

CHORUS:

Many things about tomorrow — I don’t seem to understand,— But I know who holds tomorrow, — And I know who holds my hand.

Every step is getting brighter   —   As the golden stairs I climb;   —   Every burden’s getting lighter,   —   Every cloud is silver-lined.  There the sun is always shining, — There no tear will dim the eye;   —   At the ending of the rainbow — Where the mountains touch the sky.

I don’t know about tomorrow;   —   It may bring me poverty. — But the one who feeds the sparrow,  — Is the one who stands by me.  — And the path that be my portion  —   May be through the flame or flood; —  But His presence goes before me — And I’m covered with His blood.

My Jesus I Love Thee

1 John 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.

Jesus loved us when we were unlovely.

He is worthy of all of our love, all of our devotion, all of our service.

My Jesus I Love Thee

________________________________

My Jesus, I love Thee, I know Thou art mine;  —   For Thee all the follies of sin I resign;  —   My gracious Redeemer, my Savior art Thou;  —   If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

I love Thee because Thou hast first loved me,  —   And purchased my pardon on Calvary’s tree;  —   I love Thee for wearing the thorns on Thy brow;  —   If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

I’ll love Thee in life, I will love Thee in death, — And praise Thee as long as Thou lendest me breath; —  And say when the death dew lies cold on my brow, — If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

In mansions of glory and endless delight,  —   I’ll ever adore Thee in heaven so bright;  —   I’ll sing with the glittering crown on my brow,  —   If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

‘Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus

Proverbs 30:5  Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

Nothing will clean you up like the Word of God.

Every Word of God is pure. It is better than any soap; it is a miracle cleanser.

‘Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus

‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,   —   Just to take Him at His Word;   —   Just to rest upon His promise,   —   And to know, “Thus saith the Lord!.

CHORUS:

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!   —   How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er;   —   Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!   —   Oh, for grace to trust Him more!

Oh, how sweet to trust in Jesus,   —   Just to trust His cleansing blood;   —   And in simple faith to plunge me   —   ’Neath the healing, cleansing flood!

Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,   —   Just from sin and self to cease;   —   Just from Jesus simply taking   —   Life and rest, and joy and peace.

I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee,   —   Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;   —   And I know that Thou art with me,   —   Wilt be with me to the end.

Looking For A City

2 Corinthians 4:18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

I am looking for that city whose builder and maker is God.

These things that we see around us are all passing away. The things which are not seen are eternal.

Here among the shadows, (living) in a lonely land (With Strangers)   —   We’re a band of pilgrims on the move (Thru dangers).  —   Burdened down with sorrows, (And we’re) shunned on every hand,   —   (But we are) looking for a city built above.

CHORUS:

Looking for a city, where we’ll never die.  —   There the sainted millions never say goodbye.  —   There we’ll meet our Savior, and our loved ones, too.  —   Come, O Holy Spirit, all our hopes renew.

In this land of danger (we are) going here and there,  —   (We’re simply) trusting in the blessed Savior’s love. —  (And Mercy) Tho’ we may be strangers — (Living) in this world of care, —  (We’re always) looking for a city built above.

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

We need to sense a need of seeing Jesus Christ on the pages of the Word of God so that we might grow more like Him.

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

____________________________

O soul, are you weary and troubled?   —   No light in the darkness you see?   —   There’s light for a look at the Savior,   —   And life more abundant and free.

CHORUS:

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,   —   Look full in His wonderful face.   —   And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,   —   In the light of His glory and grace.

Through death into life everlasting   —   He passed, and we follow Him there; — O’er us sin no more hath dominion — For more than conqu’rors we are!

His Word shall not fail you He promised;  —   Believe Him, and all will be well: —  Then go to a world that is dying,   —   His perfect salvation to tell!
