Tell Me the Story of Jesus

Romans 5:8-9 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

[9] Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

At the very heart of the story of Jesus is His demonstration of love for us by dying on a cross for our sins while we were yet sinners.

I’m so glad I was justified by His blood sacrifice when I believed on Him.

I’m so glad I’m saved.

Tell Me the Story of Jesus

Tell me the story of Jesus, — Write on my heart every word; — Tell me the story most precious, — Sweetest that ever was heard. — Tell how the angels in chorus, — Sang as they welcomed His birth, —  “Glory to God in the highest!   —   Peace and good tidings to earth.”

CHORUS:

Tell me the story of Jesus, — Write on my heart every word; — Tell me the story most precious,   —   Sweetest that ever was heard.

Fasting alone in the desert,  — Tell of the days that are past, — How for our sins He was tempted,   —   Yet was triumphant at last.   —   Tell of the years of His labor,   —   Tell of the sorrow He bore;   —   He was despised and afflicted,   —   Homeless, rejected and poor.

Tell of the cross where they nailed Him,   —   Writhing in anguish and pain;   —   Tell of the grave where they laid Him,   —   Tell how He liveth again. — Love in that story so tender, — Clearer than ever I see; — Stay, let me weep while you whisper,   —   “Love paid the ransom for me.”

Tell how He’s gone back to heaven, — Up to the right hand of God: — How He is there interceding — While on this earth we must trod. — Tell of the sweet Holy Spirit  —   He has poured out from above;   —   Tell how He’s coming in glory   —   For all the saints of His love.

Frances J. Crosby  1880

Amazing Grace

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

2 Corinthians 8:9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

Imagine the Jewel of Heaven coming down to this earth to a place of poverty and to die on a cruel cross for our sins.

Jesus was rich, but He became poor for you and me.

That’s “Amazing Grace”.

Amazing grace   —   How sweet the sound   —   That saved a wretch like me.   —   I once was lost, but now I'm found   —   Was blind, but now I see.

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,   —   And grace my fears relieved.   —   How precious did that grace appear   —   The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares   —   We have already come,   —   'Twas grace has brought us safe thus far   —   And grace will lead us home.

When we’ve been there ten thousand years  —  Bright, shining as the sun,  —  We've no less days to sing God's praise  —  Than when we've first begun.

Rock Of Ages

Deuteronomy 32:4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

This is the song about the Rock.  Christ is the chief Cornerstone of 1 Peter 2:6. His work is perfect.

Oh, how this song exalts God,

Isaiah 26:3-4 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee : because he trusteth in thee.

[4] Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength:

Rock of Ages, cleft for me,  —  Let me hide myself in Thee;  —  Let the water and the blood,  —  From Thy wounded side which flowed,  —  Be of sin the double cure,    —    Save from wrath and make me pure.

Not the labor of my hands  —  Can fulfill Thy law’s demands;  —  Could my zeal no respite know,  —  Could my tears forever flow,  —  All for sin could not atone;    —  Thou must save, and Thou alone.

While I draw this fleeting breath,    —    When my eyes shall close in death,  —  When I rise to worlds unknown,  —  And behold Thee on Thy throne,  —  Rock of Ages, cleft for me,  —  Let me hide myself in Thee.

I Need Thee Every Hour

Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

May the Lord help us to run to Him when trials and

temptations come our way,

Matt. 11:28; 1 Pet. 5:7.

I Need Thee Every Hour

I need Thee every hour,  Most gracious Lord;    —    No tender voice like Thine can peace afford.

CHORUS:

I need Thee, oh, I need Thee;  —  Every hour I need Thee;  —  Oh, bless me now, my Savior,    —    I come to Thee.

I need Thee every hour, stay Thou nearby;    —   Temptations lose their pow’r when Thou art nigh.

I need Thee every hour, in joy or pain;    —    Come quickly and abide, or life is vain.

I need Thee every hour, most Holy One;    —    Oh, make me Thine indeed, Thou blessed Son.

Leave It There

1 Peter 5:7  Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

When the worries of life press us down, we don’t have to bear them alone.

Thank God, the Lord cares and is stronger than we are.

He is willing to carry our load.

CHORUS:

Leave it there, leave it there,    —    Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there;    —    If you trust and never doubt, He will surely bring you out    —    Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.

If your body suffers pain and your health you can’t regain,    —    And your soul is almost sinking in despair,    —    Jesus knows the pain you feel, He can save and He can heal    —    Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.

Precious Lord, Take My Hand

Isaiah 41:13 For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

God wants to enable us to walk with Him, and have fellowship with Him.

He wants us to know Him and trust Him.

What comfort!

Precious Lord, take my hand, — Lead me on, let me stand. — I am tired. I am weak. I am worn. — Through the storm, through the night, — Lead me on to the light. —  Take my hand, precious Lord, lead me home.

When my way grows drear,  —  Precious Lord, linger near  —    When my life is almost gone.  —    Hear my cry, hear my call,  —    Hold my hand lest I fall.  —    Take my hand, precious Lord, lead me home

Come Unto Me

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

When we come to Jesu, we receive:

— Rest from our attempts to please God - Eph. 1:6 3.

— Calmness concerning our salvation - Rom. 8:16; 4.

— Quietness about our future - John 6:37; John 10:28; 5

— Refreshment for our journey - Isa. 40:31

Come Unto Me

___________________

Hear the blessed Savior calling the oppressed,   —    “Oh, ye heavy-laden, come to Me and rest;   —    Come, no longer tarry, I your load will bear,   —    Bring Me every burden, bring Me every care.”

CHORUS:

Come unto Me, I will give you rest;  —  Take My yoke upon you, hear Me and be blest; — I am meek and lowly, come and trust My might; — Come, My yoke is easy, and My burden’s light.

Are you disappointed, wand’ring here and there,   —    Dragging chains of doubt and loaded down with care?   —    Do unholy feelings struggle in your breast?   —    Bring your cares to Jesus—He will give you rest.

Stumbling on the mountains dark with sin and shame,   —    Stumbling toward the pit of hell’s consuming flame;   —    By the pow’rs of sin deluded and oppressed,   —    Hear the tender Shepherd, “Come to Me and rest.”

Have you by temptation often conquered been,   —    Has a sense of weakness brought distress within?   —    Christ will sanctify you, if you’ll claim His best;   —    In the Holy Spirit, He will give you rest.
