Farther Along

1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

When I was grown, Mama told me that out of all her children only I asked why this and why that.

I’ve learned that we don’t have to know all the why answers. We just have to trust Jesus no matter what happens.

Farther Along

Tempted and tried we’re oft made to wonder   —    Why it should be thus all the day long;   —    While there are others living about us,   —    Never molested tho’ in the wrong.

CHORUS:

Farther along we’ll know all about it,   —    Farther along we’ll understand why.   —    Cheer up, my brother, live in the sunshine,   —    We’ll understand it all by and by.

When death has come and taken our loved ones,   —    It leaves our home so lonely and drear;   —    Then do we wonder why others prosper,   —    Living so wicked year after year.

Faithful till death said our loving Master;   —    A few more days to labor and wait;   —    Toils of the road will then seem as nothing,   —    When we sweep thru the beautiful gate.

When we see Jesus, coming in glory,   —    When He comes from His home in the sky; —  Then we will meet Him in that bright mansion,   —    We’ll understand it all by and by.

W. B. Stevens  1911

His Eye is on The Sparrow

Matthew 10:29-31 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.

[30] But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

[31] Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

What a loving, caring, magnificent God we serve!

Whatever the problem, believers rate number one with the good Lord.

So, I’m in Good Hands.

His Eye is on The Sparrow

Why should I feel discouraged?     —   Why should the shadows come?    —   Why should my heart be lonely and long for heaven and home?  —  When Jesus is my portion? My constant friend is He: —  His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

CHORUS:

I sing because I’m happy.  —  I sing because I’m free,  —  For His eye is on the sparrow,    —   And I know He watches me.

“Let not your heart be troubled,”  —  His tender words I hear. —  And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears.    —   Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see;    —   His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;

Whenever I am tempted,   —   Whenever clouds arise.  —  When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,    —   I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free;    —   His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;

T’il The Storm Passes By

Mark 4:37,39  And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. . . . .

[39] And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

What a wonderful lesson we learn here.

Jesus puts us into the storms of life in order that we might grow closer to Him.

T’il The Storm Passes By

In the dark of the midnight have I oft hid my face,    —    While the storm howls above me, and there's no hiding place.    —    'Mid the crash of the thunder, Precious Lord, hear my cry,    —    Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

CHORUS:

Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more,    —    Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;    —    Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand,    —    Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

Many times Satan whispered, "There is no need to try,  —  For there's no end of sorrow, there's no hope by and by"  —  But I know Thou art with me, and tomorrow I'll rise  —  Where the storms never darken the skies.

When the long night has ended and the storms come no more, — Let me stand in Thy presence on that bright peaceful shore;    —    In that land where the tempest never comes, Lord, may I    —    Dwell with Thee when the storm passes by.

I Must Tell Jesus

Psalm 86:7 In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: for thou wilt answer me.

The older I get, the more I talk to the Lord while moving through my days.

Most of my needs may seem small, but  nothing is too small or too large for Jesus.

His quick answers amaze me.

He is good and gracious.

1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you

I Must Tell Jesus

I must tell Jesus all of my trials,   —    I cannot bear these burdens alone;   —    In my distress He kindly will help me,   —    He ever loves and cares for His own.

CHORUS:

I must tell Jesus! I must tell Jesus!   —    I cannot bear my burdens alone;   —    I must tell Jesus! I must tell Jesus!   —    Jesus can help me, Jesus alone.

I must tell Jesus all of my troubles,   —    He is a kind, compassionate Friend;   —    If I but ask Him He will deliver,   —   Make of my troubles quickly an end.

Fairest Lord Jesus

Psalm 45:2 Thou art fairer than the children of men: grace is poured into thy lips: therefore God hath blessed thee for ever.

This is a lovely psalm which is occupied with the person of Christ.

We need to behold Him more, to worship Him more.

Fairest Lord Jesus, Ruler of all nature,   —    O Thou of God and man the Son,   —    Thee will I cherish, Thee will I honor,   —    Thou, my soul’s glory, joy and crown.

Fair are the meadows, fairer still the woodlands,   —    Robed in the blooming garb of spring; —  Jesus is fairer, Jesus is purer, —  Who makes the woeful heart to sing.

Fair is the sunshine, fairer still the moonlight,   —    And all the twinkling starry host; —  Jesus shines brighter, Jesus shines purer  —   Than all the angels heav’n can boast.

All fairest beauty, heavenly and earthly,   —    Wondrously, Jesus, is found in Thee;  —  None can be nearer, fairer or dearer,  —    Than Thou, my Savior, art to me.

Beautiful Savior! Lord of all the nations!   —    Son of God and Son of Man!   —    Glory and honor, praise, adoration,   —    Now and forevermore be Thine.

In Times Like These

2 Timothy 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

I believe we are now in these “perilous” days. I

don’t know how much longer it will last, but I’m sure it’s going to get worse, not better.

In times like these we need a Savior;   —    In times like these we need an anchor.   —    Be very sure, be very sure   —    Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!

CHORUS:

This Rock is Jesus, yes, He’s the One.   —    This Rock is Jesus, the only One!   —    Be very sure, be very sure   —    Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!

In times like these we need the Bible.   —    In times like these O be not idle.   —    Be very sure, be very sure   —    Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!

Glory to His Name

Ephesians 3:16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;

It is only when we yield to the Spirit and let Him control the inner man, that we succeed in living to the full glory of God.

Glory to His Name

Down at the cross where my Savior died,  —  Down where for cleansing from sin I cried,  — There to my heart was the blood applied;  — Glory to His Name!

CHORUS:

Glory to His Name,    —   Glory to His Name:    —   There to my heart was the blood applied;    —   Glory to His Name!

I am so wondrously saved from sin,   —  Jesus so sweetly abides within,   —   There at the cross where He took me in;    —   Glory to His Name!

Oh, precious fountain that saves from sin,    —   I am so glad I have entered in;    —   There Jesus saves me and keeps me clean;  — Glory to His Name!

Come to this fountain so rich and sweet,    —   Cast thy poor soul at the Savior’s feet;    —   Plunge in today, and be made complete;  —  Glory to His Name!
