In Times Like These

Hebrews 6:18-19 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:

[19] Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;

The very fact that Jesus is our Refuge, our Anchor and our Forerunner ought to give us confidence to get through the tough times we live in.

In Times Like These

In times like these you need a Savior,    —    In times like these you need an anchor;  — Be very sure, be very sure, — Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!

CHORUS:

This Rock is Jesus, Yes He's the One,    —    This Rock is Jesus, the only One;  —  Be very sure, be very sure,  —  Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!

In times like these you need the Bible,    —    In times like these, O be not idle;  —  Be very sure, be very sure,  —  Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!

In times like these I have a Savior,  —  In times like these I have an anchor;  —  I'm very sure, I'm very sure  —  My anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!

Blessed Assurance

Ephesians 2:4-6 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

[5] Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

[6] And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

In this unsure, chaotic world, the best place to be is in Christ Jesus. He is in control of it all. He also loves us more than we know

So glad we have His assurance.

Blessed Assurance

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!    —   Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!    —   Heir of salvation, purchase of God,    —   Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

CHORUS:

This is my story, this is my song,    —   Praising my Savior all the day long;    —   This is my story, this is my song,    —   Praising my Savior all the day long.

Perfect submission, perfect delight, — Visions of rapture now burst on my sight; — Angels, descending, bring from above — Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

Perfect submission, all is at rest,    —   I in my Savior am happy and blest,    —   Watching and waiting, looking above, — Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

His Name Is Wonderful

1 Chronicles 29:11-13 Thine, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine ; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all.

[12] Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all.

[13] Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name.

What more can I say? His Name is Wonderful!

He is the mighty King,    —    Master of everything,    —    His name is wonderful,    —    Jesus my Lord.

He's the Great Shepherd,     —    The Rock of all ages,    —    Almighty God is he,

Bow down before Him,     —    Love and adore Him,    —    His name is wonderful,     —    Jesus my Lord.

His Eye Is on The Sparrow

Luke 12:6-7 Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?

[7] But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Starting the New Year with this song is a boost in the right direction.

His Eye Is on The Sparrow

Why should I feel discouraged?     —    Why should the shadows come? — Why should my heart be lonely  —  and long for heav’n and home?  — When Jesus is my portion,  — My constant Friend is He. — His eye is on the sparrow,   —    and I know He watches me.

CHORUS:

I sing because I’m happy,  —  I sing because I’m free;  — For His eye is on the sparrow,  —  and I know He watches me.

“Let not your heart be troubled,” His tender words I hear; — And resting on His goodness, — I lose my doubts and fears.— Though by the path He leadeth,— but one step I may see; — His eye is on the sparrow, — and I know He watches me.

Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise.  —  When songs give place to sighing,  —  when hope within me dies;  —  I draw the closer to Him,  — from care He sets me free; —  His eye is on the sparrow,  — and I know He watches me.

Hold to God’s Unchanging Hand

Psalm 139:9-10 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

[10] Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

We can never go too far from God’s Hand to guide us and hold us up when we need Him most.

Hold To God’s Unchanging Hand

Time is filled with swift transition.  —  Naught of earth unmoved can stand.    —   Build your hopes on things eternal.    —   Hold to God’s unchanging hand.

CHORUS:

Hold to God’s unchanging hand.    —   Hold to God’s unchanging hand.    —   Build your hopes on things eternal.    —   Hold to God’s unchanging hand.

Trust in him who will not leave you.    —   Whatsoever years may bring.    —   If by earthly friends forsaken,    —   Still more closely to him cling.

Covet not this world’s vain riches —That so rapidly decay.—Seek to gain the heav’nly treasures. — They will never pass away.

Just a Closer Walk With Thee

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

The Apostle Paul is saying, “I can…through Christ.”  That is the language of POWER.

That is victory over every temptation; grace for every trouble; strength for every task — through Christ.

And it’s all things as in v. 12!

Philippians 4:12  I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

That’s why we need to walk close to the Lord. We need Him.

Just a Closer Walk With Thee

I am weak but Thou art strong;   —   Jesus, keep me from all wrong;   —   I'll be satisfied as long   —   As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.

CHORUS:

Just a closer walk with Thee, — Grant it, Jesus, is my plea, — Daily walking close to Thee,   —  Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

Thro' this world of toil and snares,   —   If I falter, Lord, who cares?   —   Who with me my burden shares?   —   None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.

When my feeble life is o'er,   —   Time for me will be no more;   —

Guide me gently, safely o'er   —   To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore.

God Will Take Care of You

Nahum 1:7 The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.

One of my favorite sayings is: “Life is hard, but God is good.”

We need to know that in 2021.

We need to know that we can flee to Him when trouble comes and the hurts and sorrows of life can’t follow.

That’s our place of safety and God knows us because we trust Him.

Be assured that God will take care of you in 2021. He is good no matter what happens. Trust Him.

God Will Take Care of You

Be not dismayed what’er betide,    —    God will take care of you;    — Beneath His wings of love abide, —  God will take care of you.

CHORUS:

God will take care of you,    —    Through every day, o’er all the way;  —  He will take care of you,  —  God will take care of you.

Through days of toil when heart doth fail,    —    God will take care of you;    —    When dangers fierce your path assail,    —    God will take care of you.

All you may need He will provide,    —    God will take care of you;    —  Nothing you ask will be denied,  —  God will take care of you.

No matter what may be the test, — God will take care of you;    — Lean, weary one, upon His breast, — God will take care of you.
