I’d Rather Have Jesus

Philippians 3:8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

The Apostle Paul knows Jesus is more valuable than anything else in this life or in the life to come.

He sees Jesus as The Holy, Anointed One, the Savior Who gave Himself for all those trapped in sin, The Sovereign Ruler and ventral authority of all of life.

Truth is: you can have everything, but without Jesus you have absolutely nothing.

I’d Rather Have Jesus

I'd rather have Jesus than silver or gold;   —  I'd rather be His than have riches untold;  —  I'd rather have Jesus than houses or lands.  —  I'd rather be led by His nail pierced hand.

CHORUS:

Than to be the king of a vast domain     —    Or be held in sin's dread sway.  —  I'd rather have Jesus than anything  — This world affords today.

I'd rather have Jesus than men's applause; — I'd rather be faithful to His dear cause; — I'd rather have Jesus than worldwide fame.  — I'd rather be true to His holy name.

He's fairer than lilies of rarest bloom;  — He's sweeter than honey from out the comb; — He's all that my hungering spirit needs. — I'd rather have Jesus and let Him lead.

Footsteps of Jesus

1 Peter 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

We cannot by any means imitate every step Jesus made during His public ministry, but He did leave us an example.

The gospel records tell us how He suffered for righteousness’ sake.

When you and I suffer for our faith, we remember the example He left for us

Footsteps of Jesus

Sweetly, Lord, have we heard Thee calling, — “Come, follow Me!” — And we see where Thy footprints falling, — Lead us to Thee.

CHORUS:

Footprints of Jesus,  — That make the pathway glow;  — We will follow the steps of Jesus  — Where’er they go.

Though they lead o’er the cold, dark mountains,    —   Seeking His sheep;  — Or along by Siloam’s fountains,  — Helping the weak.

If they lead through the temple holy,  —  Preaching the Word;    —   Or in homes of the poor and lowly,  — Serving the Lord.

Then, at last, when on high He sees us, — Our journey done,  — We will rest where the steps of Jesus  — End at His throne.

More About Jesus

2 Peter 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Know Jesus Christ as He is revealed to man in the Word of God.

This is the secret of life and of Christian living (see John 17:3).

More About Jesus

More about Jesus would I know,  —  More of His grace to others show;    —  More of His saving fullness see, — More of His love who died for me.

CHORUS:

More, more about Jesus,  —  More, more about Jesus;  —  More of His saving fullness see,  —  More of His love who died for me.

More about Jesus let me learn, — More of His holy will discern; — Spirit of God, my teacher be, — Showing the things of Christ to me.

More about Jesus, in His Word, — Holding communion with my Lord; —   Hearing His voice in every line, — Making each faithful saying mine.

More about Jesus on His throne, — Riches in glory all His own; — More of His kingdom’s sure increase; — More of His coming, Prince of Peace.

Near to the Heart if God

Psalm 73:26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

A heart that desires nothing but the Lord is a heart that will never be disappointed!

When we want nothing but God, we are sure to have everything we want, Matt. 5:6)

So, no matter what happens, whether I understand it or not, I will simply trust Him

Near to the Heart of God

There is a place of quiet rest,  —  Near to the heart of God;  —  A place where sin cannot molest,   —   Near to the heart of God.

CHORUS:

O Jesus, blest Redeemer,  —  Sent from the heart of God;  —  Hold us, who wait before Thee,  —  Near to the heart of God.

There is a place of comfort sweet, — Near to the heart of God; — A place where we our Savior meet,  —  Near to the heart of God.

There is a place of full release, — Near to the heart of God;  —  A place where all is joy and peace,  —  Near to the heart of God.
