I Say Unto Thee, Arise
On the way to the city, two crowds met; Jesus and His disciples, rejoicing in His ministry; and a widow and mourners headed for the cemetery, lamenting the death of her only son.
Jesus, "The Man Of Sorrows", easily identified with this widow's heartache. The sympathetic Saviour felt her pain as He does ours.
Luke 7:13,14 And when The Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said unto her, "Weep not." And he came and touched the bier; and they that bare him stood still. And He said, "Young man, I say unto thee, Arise."
At His word, the boy lying on an open stretcher sat up and spoke. I wonder what he said.
What an act of tenderness as Jesus took the boy and give him to his rejoicing mother. What a mighty God we serve!
The whole scene reminds us of what will happen when The Lord returns, when we are reunited with our loved ones who have gone to glory. --1 Thes. 4:13-18.
