Jesus knew that the 5,000 filling their tummies with loaves and fishes followed Him to see the magic show because He knew their heart. When He asks them to commit to Him and to Him alone, they walk away.
John 6:67-69 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.
Peter’s life had been changed. No, he wouldn’t walk away. There came a time of weakness when he failed the Lord, but he didn’t walk away forever! He became a great preacher.
Once you’ve felt the powerful touch of Almighty God, walked in the light of His glory, tasted of His goodness and experienced His best, you will never be satisfied with substitutes and imitations!
What are we to think of those who walk away from the truth? We are to love them, pray for them, and leave them in the hands of God. At the same time, we should examine the level of our own commitment to the Lord!
Not everyone walks away from Jesus! In fact, some people make a total commitment to the Lord and to His will for their lives. I hope that is you.
