The Race Of This Life

Hebrews 12:1,2 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us , and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

"The race that is set before us" indicates each believer has their own unique race to run in this life.  I can't run yours and you can't run mine. If I watch your race I’m liable to become discouraged because I’m not doing as well or I might try to run in your lane and stumble over pride if I think I’m doing better than you.

The only way any of us can run well is to keep our eyes on Jesus. He’s the race Judge, the Author and the Finisher of the race of life. He gives out rewards at the end.

As we run this race, take courage that when the Lord is your running mate you have nothing to fear, "What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?", Rom. 8:31.
