Psalm 139:23-24 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
I’d like to think that I give God my best, but sometimes I fail. Sometimes I try to lead when I should follow God’s lead. We need to ask the Lord to search our hearts and reveal the wrong things in our lives.
Consider substitutes we might be giving God instead of our best.
• Doing God’s work with our effort instead of trusting the power of God
• Living like the world instead of Godly standards
• LivIng in compromise instead of total commitment
• Accepting worldly substitutes instead of the presence and power of God
• Offering God excuses instead of humble obedience
• Pretending all is well instead of humbling ourselves before the Lord in repentance of sin
When we forget to read God’s word, pray and submit to His will every day, it’s easy to mingle the flesh with the spiritual. We need to ask the Lord to help us and lead us in His ways.
