When Jesus was on earth He labeled Himself as the "Good Shepherd".
John 10:14-15 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
Shepherds lived with the sheep, knew them by name and they knew his voice. They followed His lead and trusted Him to supply their needs.
This is the same intimate relationship every redeemed child of God enjoys with the Lord Jesus Christ.
When He calls us by name to follow Him we recognize His voice and respond in humble obedience.
Peace and assurance comes over me when I say, “The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.”
The Good Shepherd gave His life to save the sheep. Have you asked Jesus to save you, to come into your heart, to be your Shepherd? If not, seek Him.
