There has never been a message quite like the one the angel gloriously delivered to the shepherds that Holy Night. It’s a message of hope, life and salvation to all who will believe it.
Luke 2:10-11 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
When this angel finished his speech, the heaven’s burst forth with a multitude of the heavenly host, praising and exalting their Creator, who was being born among men.
Thirty-three years later, the shepherds would see this same person die on a cross for the very people He was born to save.
In 1847 John S. Dwight and Adolphe Adam wrote a powerful Christmas Carol—my favorite.
—“O holy night! The stars are brightly shining, It is the night of the dear Savior's birth.
—Long lay the world in sin and error pining, Till He appear'd and the soul felt its worth.
—A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices, For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
—Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices! Oh night divine, Oh night when Christ was born;
—Oh night divine, Oh night, oh night divine.”
