The Longer I Serve Him . . .

I heard my son say, “If you want a good parking spot at the restaurant after church, ride with mama or follow her.”
He’s right. Time and again I’ve prayed for a close parking spot on the way to eat, and The Lord answers my prayers. God knows Gale and I have weak legs and easily get out of breath when we walk too far.

On the way to the store I pray for a close parking spot and a motor cart. Prayers answered

Today we had to make the dreadful twenty mile, heavy traffic trip to Baptist Hospital at Beaumont for an imaging appointment. At mild-day the eight parking spots close to a  side entrance are usually taken.

I prayed all the way. I prayed we also wouldn’t have to wait too long. At our age our lives seem to be consumed by waiting rooms.

Seeing one side slot open, I praised the Lord as we parked and trudged inside. Everything went fast and we were in and out of there before the scheduled appointment time.

Don’t ever think bothersome things are too small to pray about. If you delight in the Lord, He will answer your prayers. The longer I serve Him, the sweeter He grows.

Psalm 37:4-5 Delight thyself also in the Lord ; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. . . . [5] Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

“Since I started for the Kingdom, — Since my life He controls, — Since I gave my heart to Jesus, — The longer I serve Him, — The sweeter He grows.

“The longer serve Him, the sweeter He grows, — The more that I love Him, more love He bestows; — Each day is like heaven, my heart overflows, — The longer I serve Him, — he sweeter He grows.

“Ev'ry need He is supplying, — Plenteous grace He bestows; — Ev'ry day my way gets brighter, — The longer I serve Him, — The sweeter He grows.”
