Romans 5:8-9 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
[9] Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
There is no doubt as to the love of God as we look back at a place called Calvary.
There we see a holy and a sinless God as life leaves His body and blood runs down the cross, dripping in great pools on the ground.
There Is a Fountain
________________________________
There is a fountain filled with blood, — Drawn from Immanuel’s veins, — And sinners plunged beneath that flood — Lose all their guilty stains:
The dying thief rejoiced to see — That fountain in His day; — And there have I, though vile as he, — Washed all my sins away:
E’er since by faith I saw the stream — Thy flowing wounds supply, — Redeeming love has been my theme, — And shall be till I die:
When this poor, lisping, stamm’ring tongue — Lies silent in the grave, — Then in a nobler, sweeter song, — I’ll sing Thy pow’r to save:
William Cowper 1772
