Rock of Ages

1 Corinthians 10:1,3,4  Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;

[3] And did all eat the same spiritual meat;

[4] And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

Here the Apostle Paul is speaking to the Hebrews in this Corinthian congregation.

Jesus, our Rock, appeared to them often in the Old Testament.

Deuteronomy 32:4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

Rock of Ages

Rock of Ages, cleft for me, — Let me hide myself in Thee; — Let the water and the blood,   —   From Thy wounded side which flowed,  —  Be of sin the double cure,  —  Save from wrath and make me pure.

Could my tears forever flow,   —   Could my zeal no langour know,   —   These for sin could not atone;   —   Thou must save, and Thou alone.   —   In my hand no price I bring;   —   Simply to Thy cross I cling.

While I draw this fleeting breath,   —   When my eyes shall close in death,   —   When I rise to worlds unknown,   —   And behold Thee on Thy throne,   —   Rock of Ages, cleft for me,   —   Let me hide myself in Thee.
